So, the big 3-0 is here and its fierce. Dirty thirty never felt so good. The celebrations are not over yet, I assume and I like this pinnacle in my life. A lot his changed for this date, even though I don’t feel a day over 21 (Okay, maybe 24)! All my loved ones made sure to spend some quality time with me or just give me a lengthy phone call since its summer season in Kuwait and everyone is tryna get the hell outta here! AM (above) who is an avid reader of the blog dropped us a video, which was very nice of him and was one of the things that made my day! Thank you, again.

Lady Gaga says her third album is her best work!

Can you believe that Lady Gaga is already on her third album! The Gaga is very excited about her album and she told an Australian radio show that it is certainly her best work yet. The album is set to drop in the fourth quarter of this year. Yes, we are getting a whole new album this year. Some people release three albums and then release a greatest hits collection. Not the Gaga, she is on a roll. Also, in other news, Lady Gaga will celebrate her 24th birthday by visiting the dingiest bar that smells like urine. She said that and we love her.

Mariah Carey celebrates 40th birthday today!

World-renowned diva and personal favorite Mariah Carey turns 40 this March 27th, 2010. Yes, the big 4-0! This picture is of Mariah when she was 20. Not much has changed. She’s still the great MC. We know that Mariah doesn’t like calling it a “birthday” but opts for “anniversary” instead. You can join the festivities over at her official website where there is a competition going on and all kinds of lambery ensuing. Or you could send Honey B. Fly a message here. In celebration, we will reminisce on the amazing body of musical work the diva has established throughout her four decades here and let’s hope for the best to come in the next 4. It’s a good day for us here at the Loft965.com camp. We are celebrating our first anniversary. Yes, we are 1. It has been a year since we built this blog that started out with a simple concept but with high aspirations. A lot has changed since the inception of this blog. But, all-in-all it was a great journey and we’ve accomplished a lot.

We never wanted to be a local blog or a personal only-my-friends kind of blog. Also, we refused to use any from of advertising until this blog is up on its feet and successful. The mission was tough at first but we reaped the fruits of our labor later. Our growth rate as of now is 530%, which is more than what was planned. Originally, our game plan was to get a readership that will keep this blog afloat internationally. We have far surpassed that. Actually, we are overwhelmed by the response. We happen to be approaching our best month in numbers.

We are truly happy about what this space has become. Thanks goes out to the contributing bloggers, people who send us ideas, record labels who sent us free stuff, people who forwarded our posts, and everyone that pressed the “bookmark” button on us. You are muchly appreciated and we hope to keep amusing you with this blog for the second year.  Thank you.

The birther movement has a queen

For those of you who haven’t heard, some conservatives and racists and nazis (all of which happen to be republican, what a coincidence) have started a movement that believes that Obama was not born on the island of Oahu, Hawaii but was actually born in the Southern Coast of Kenya. This belief is rampant in spite of the fact that Obama has presented his birth certificate to the US government and it was approved. They have allegedly forged an English birth certificate from Kenya (no, not in Swahili) that is supposed to be the “real” one. This attorney is trying to defend the movement all the way from Tel Aviv (conspicuous?) with a Russian accent. Apparently, she refused to get into the NBC studio car because the chauffer’s name “sounded Muslim.” What a looney. You know, even if these bigots have some kind of theory that gains some tract along the way, they lose it when everything escalates and their prejudices peak out. Rihanna doing well, recovering during birthday

Rihanna’s posse released a statement on her whereabouts and how she is doing. Apparently, everything is fine and she is back in Los Angeles after a brief break in her native Barbados. She is celebrating her birthday without a the big 200-something bash her record company had planned for her and is apparently on her road to recovery. Chris Brown’s half-assed statement seems to have tinted his image further and anyone that sympathizes with him now is pretty much either a misogynist or a lunatic. The TMZ leak of the battering pictures show that it wasn’t just a tiny scuffle of sorts but a full-blown violent assault that can not be inflicted by anyone other than a criminal.
