Up until now, Flight Facilities have not faltered once with their singles. They might have released 3 singles in 3 years, but still, all of them were amazing. This is the teaser to their fourth offering coming your way real soon. It sounds ethereal and transcendent – just like we like it. It’s great to have a new single, but it would be better to get a full length album. It’s about time, Flight Facilities! Continue reading
No Doubt’s eagerly anticipated return kicks off with the release of “Settle Down” on September 17th. The song starts off with some Arabic beats! The single is a party-ready anthem that is classic No Doubt. The video was directed by Sophie Miller, who was behind iconic “Don’t Speak’”and “Underneath It All” videos.
The band formed in 1986 in Anaheim, California and No Doubt haven’t stopped still since. With five albums and over 45 million sales worldwide, they have notched up 10 Grammy nominations, winning twice [Best Pop Performance 2001 /2005]. Even during their hiatus, band-members Gwen Stefani, Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont and Adrian Young were busy with marriage, kids [the band have eight between them] and working on individual projects. Adrian drummed for Maroon 5, Tony and Tom focused on producing, while Gwen had two hit albums and a fashion line. Before the band started work on their album they regrouped for 57-date arena tour of the US in 2009.

Melanie B’s first album was a success, then she took a hiatus, moved to California, started a new life and decided to take things in her own hand. Well, the result was LA State Of Mind, an album that had great tracks on it but was received very poorly. In fact, so poorly that it only shifted 670 copies in its first week of release in the UK, and one of these purchases was from us! We actually got super excited and got the edition with the DVD. Yes, we watched all of it and there were some great moments on the disc.
Actress Rita Wilson, wife of Tom Hanks (although we hate to do this as feminists but this warrants a clarification), is ready to take on the music world with her new easy listening album that will make you feel like you are on a California beach without a care in the world. The song is cute and can go places, not sure who the male vocalist is and why the producers thought that he would give her a boost, but it doesn’t sound that bad. Her new album is called AM/FM and it comes out soon!
Linda Perhacs is a California dentist who recorded the legendary psychedelic folk record Parallelograms back in 1970. The album disappeared without much of a proper release and Linda went back into dentistry, only to discover a new generation of fans and artists (like Devendra Banhart, Daft Punk, and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth) hailing her album as an influential masterpiece 40 years later. This is just a snippet of her contribution to freak folk way before it become a genre.
The summer of last year when we met Missy Higgins in Los Angeles she told us that she is taking it slow and not pressuring herself into making another album anytime soon. We expressed our love for everything she has does and told her that we even listen to her B-sides. She replied that she might go back into the studio sometime in the near future. Well, it turns out that she did because she just tweeted that she has officially finished recording the new album, which will be her third. This is exciting news as Autumn is coming up and there is no better time to listen to some strums from Missy Higgins than during Fall.
