Mariah Carey announces tour dates for “Angels Advocate” tour

So, now it’s called the Angels Advocate tour not the Angels Cry tour and it will take off right after her New Year’s gig at Madison Square Garden in New York City. It’ll span a little more than a month and, as of now, it only consists of North American dates. She needs to get around the world with this one as a whole lot of people are waiting for her, never forgetting Australia. Dubai and Beirut again would be nice. Or maybe Port Ghalib. Noah lands on the pop world

1

As mentioned, Noah is one of the most promising artists of the year. With his brand of pop-conscious electro and dazzling visuals, he is bound to make some waves. If not on MTV and radio, then around the blogosphere. This has yet to happen. But, it will when he releases a video. This is just a teaser of what is to come, even if it looks like a cologne commercial.

Obama gives Queen Elizabeth an iPod as a gift

Evidence that  Barack Obama is cool as a green t-shirt on St. Patrick’s day keeps pouring in. The latest tidbit is that a gift , that was apparently an iPod, was given to none other than Queen Elizabeth II on his recent trip to Buckingham Palace. And Michelle Obama is doubley as cool for not curtseying.

Last time he visited London Obama gave Sarah “hide her” Brown a set of DVD’s that were not from the same region. So, she couldn’t view them in the UK unless she has a regionless DVD player. And, being in the UK, the rules are the rules. But she could probably get them for 19.99 pounds on an HMV sale in Oxford Street.

Music for February: Synthosium

9

synthosiumThis time around, I opted for the different route. I shed some pop pride and got with the experimentalists. This is the driest of my compilations, not in a bad sense. More like sun-dried. Initially, I did a very moody chillout compilation and then I decided to shelf it (perhaps for March). After being unsure about it (and a little advice from friends), I decided to make February up and rocky. There’s a huge element of electro-clash, some folktronica and an on-going, but not singular theme of everything synth. Whether it was synthpop or some twangs of freakbeat. This compilation is not for everybody, especially those used to a pop template, but it is surely a grower, at least for me. It’s a great get-up-and-go kind of compilation. I hope you like and, of course, feedback’s always welcome.

Why the West doesn’t care about Gaza…

gaza_strip_may_2005

I read this good article on Truthdig.com about the West’s indifference to the Palestinian cause. It struck a chord. The death toll now over 600 and the wounded are over 3000. It’s one thing to strike because you are an occupied territory without freedoms and have dire standards of living, it’s another to struck to showcase  your muscle-power. Both crimes, but they are not equal.

Must Watch: The Corporation (2003)

1

I heard about it when it came out and I thought I should miss it since I already what corporations are up to and how “evil” they are. I was wrong. This documentary shines a light on many other aspects, with many luminaries of our time commenting and pitching in. I recommend this to everyone with a conscience.

Deborah Cox sneaks up on me…

2

51f98kwp0zl_ss500_I totally did not see this one coming. The Cox decided to sneak up on me without me knowing that she was readying up an album for release this week. My inner Sappho was so hyped up about Tracy Chapman that I totally forgot about it. I am not getting The Promise, though. I am just excited for all the remixes that will be forever played in circuit rounds.
