Leave it to a Brit newcomer to sweep 2012 off of its feet with one single track. Although the music video is a little lackluster, the song is resilient enough to carry any visual. “Next To Me” is an inspirational anthem to forever love. The track is gospel-tinted but with a resplendent pop sensibility. Even the stoic Madonna said she liked it. If this track is anything to go by Emeli Sande is set to break every market that appreciates a solid pop song of epic proportions. Should this succeed, it will be on every karaoke machine from London to Manila.

Sexy Track: “The Sweetest Thing” by Dionne Bromfield
1This is the third time from the same album that Dionne Bromfield gets the incredibly prestigious “Sexy Track” title from our blog. Okay, naysayers you can settle down, we are making a joke much to your dismay. This song is a little tougher than the radio-friendly “Yeah Right” and the extremely infectious “Ouch That Hurt.” It’s a soul song with an old rock mentality. Something that feels like it could be a teeny bopper anthem yet be featured on the snobby Q magazine. The lyrics are the real catch here and they speak a story of ultimate yearning. A proper London streets song with great vocals and words that are uttered of pure emotion. We really believe that Dionne Bromfield is the natural continuation of Amy Winehouse’s legacy.

Lady Gaga’s song “The Edge Of Glory” has leaked!
2What a great excuse to put an old Lady Gaga photo on since we are sick of that one photo shoot she had for Born This Way. Well, you guessed it, the minute “The Edge Of Glory” went live on iTunes it was ripped and re-appropriated everywhere. The third single for the yet-unreleased album is out and it’s up to you to digest it how you want it. Click here to be forwarded to another blog that has radio-ripped the song.
Don’t Quote Me, Vol. 504
1“And when you’re running for cover
And you feel the sky falling down upon you
And when it feels like forever
Since you’ve seen the face of someone who loves you
Then one is all that you need
All that you need to keep you warm
Is all that you need
All that you need to move you on
It’s all that you need
All you need is
One”
- Tina Dico on “One”
Official cover of Kat DeLuna’s new album “Inside Out”
This doesn’t look like her at all, but it’s a cute little cover, to say the least. Let’s hope the new album Inside Out is a little less “Whine Up” and little more “Run The Show.”
Faith Evans debuts new material!
Faith Evans is set to release her newest album Something About Faith and it will be the fifth album that has the word “faith” in the title! Yes, she loves herself that much. Except, we are not too sure about the concept of the album it verges on the religious side and we liked the faith that did smooth love with slick beats like “Mesmerized” and “I Love You.” But, her voice is still up to par in this video and anything from her is good right about now. Also, Keyshia Cole and Kelly Price are set to be featured on this release.
New Rules 5.6
American troops trying to convert people to Christianity
As if the US foreign policy’s reputation wasn’t tarnished enough, things like these still pop up to show the world how a big chunk of the American populous believe they are on some holy quest of sorts with those meaningless wars Bush has started but never finished. Now these troops are going around Afghanistan handing out bibles translated in Pushtu and Dari to citizens and label them as “gifts.” They say the are on a “hunt for Jesus.” What a great choice of words.
Now that Obama’s in office, a man that understands and respects everyone’s belief system, whether monotheistic or atheistic, the Pentagon has to get on top of this and makes sure that a bunch of rednecks don’t blemish the US’s rep in the region as did those Abu Ghuraib criminals. What is it about pious people and there firm belief that them, and only them, are on the right path? Isn’t that some sort of sociopathic behavior? And why is this not on CNN?

Bill Maher visits the Vatican…
2I have been dying to see Religulous for months now and I can’t seem to find it here. So, naturally, I binge on YouTube. I am becoming quite a fan of Bill Maher and his show, which I find the clearest eye on politics in mainstream media today. It also happens to be the funniest political show. Yes, even funnier than John Stewart’s.
Bill Maher’s documentary on religion…
I am so excited for “Religulous” that I keep watching every trailer. I know it won’t be available here because we have some hate-mongers that are ever-so-willing to infringe on other people’s freedom of speech and thought. But, I heard from people who have seen it that it is fabulous. Here’s the trailer. If anyone knows whether it hit the Hawally rounds tell me.
