Rihanna’s posse released a statement on her whereabouts and how she is doing. Apparently, everything is fine and she is back in Los Angeles after a brief break in her native Barbados. She is celebrating her birthday without a the big 200-something bash her record company had planned for her and is apparently on her road to recovery. Chris Brown’s half-assed statement seems to have tinted his image further and anyone that sympathizes with him now is pretty much either a misogynist or a lunatic. The TMZ leak of the battering pictures show that it wasn’t just a tiny scuffle of sorts but a full-blown violent assault that can not be inflicted by anyone other than a criminal.

Really? What is the reason for the arrest? Too much make-up? Or just having some taste?
I don’t why people are being locked up for a victimless “crime.” This just goes to show how backwards a society is.
I was skeptical about watching this movie at first because I felt it was yet another vehicle to re-launch Beyonce’s ailing acting skill. I find her to be emotionally vapid whether she is the love interest in that Pink Panther movie or her lackluster performance on Dreamgirls. Also, I felt that her squeakiness could change the image of Etta James in my head. This, with the fact that I felt Adrien Brody was cast to offset her banality as an actress was frown-worthy.
I was wrong. Beyonce shined, while Brody stalled. The character of Etta James came out to be rock and roll enough for me and (other than minor script falseness like Etta James being successful only after joining Chess Records) the story tied the race struggle and the evolution of what we know as rock and roll now very well. It’s like a serious of mini-biographies that wrap up the careers of legends like Muddy Waters, Etta James, Chuck Berry, to name a few.
The soundtrack is a saviour and the depiction of the white theft of the genre of blues is not curtailed. Moreover, the movie managed to sync well given the broad subjects it tackled.
Billiard hall ‘sex slaves’ freedKUWAIT CITY: Acting on information and armed with a search and arrest warrant, securitymen raided a billiard hall in Khaitan and arrested a Kuwaiti man for having forced sex with five Indonesian girls “he had locked in an apartment and made them work in the hall,” reports Al-Rai daily. A police source said the man admitted to buying the Indonesians from an Asian man. All the five Indonesians reportedly ran away from their sponsors and the owner of the billiard hall kept them locked in an apartment. He allegedly used to visit them early mornings.
This doesn’t make sense. First, they were imprisoned in an apartment then they were freed in the billiard hall? Second, erm… where did he buy them from? Third, why do we need to know he visited them in the morning? Morning wood? Finally, the real case here is that he raped them. No?
Suspicious tenants: A Kuwaiti man was shocked on learning that his tenant, a compatriot woman who was living with her British friend, was brewing liquor and practicing sorcery, reports Al-Anba daily. The Kuwaiti landlord noticed water leaking from the ceiling of his house and was told that the pipe in the upper floor needs to be changed. As the upper floor house was closed for two weeks, he got the door broke open following which he found a barrel of brew and sorcery tools. The landlord also made the discovery that the woman had lied to him about her poor Arabic knowledge. She, however, vacated the house in exchange of a promise that the landlord won’t file a complaint against her.

‘Wasta’ prevents ‘Spider’-woman’s deportationKuwait : The Indian woman who goes by the name ‘Spider’ and is being held at the Deportation Center is said to have been referred to the Criminal Investigation Department following intervention of some influential people to release her, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. Earlier it was reported action on a tip-off police armed with a search and arrest warrant, in cooperation with personnel from the Ministry of Communications had raided a shop in Murgab and arrested the ‘Spider’ and her three Asian accomplices for trading in international calls via the Internet. The same sources said police had also seized from the gang KD 600 in cash and 56 communication devices including stop watches. The sources added ‘Spider’ had earlier been arrested on four occasions and detained at the Deportation Center but was ‘bailed out’ of prison by some influential people. Police also said securitymen were looking for three other men who escaped when police closed in on the shop.
There are many things I don’t understand from this Arab Times article. First, why is she called ‘spider’-woman. Second, why are the ‘influential people’ nameless. Third, her crime was that she was using Skype? And finally, when did stop watched become illegal. I demand a clarification.
I wonder what body part was so sensitive that Arab Times felt so ashamed it had to conceal. What parts of the body do you consider sensitive? Could it be a tummy fold? Those mobile smugglers are getting pesky!
How often does this happen? Were these guys looking to blackmail the guy, or they just thought we was really hot? If they want money, they might as well just robbed him. This is fishy.
