Lovely things happened when Shakespeare’s Sister split up, but it didn’t last very long. It was the lead single off Marcella Detroit’s successful album Jewel. Released in March 1994, the ballad became her biggest hit, peaking at No. 11 in the UK, spending eight weeks on the UK Singles Chart. The song was written by Detroit herself and produced by Chris Thomas.

Video Premiere: “The Shallow End” by Sam Sparro
Sam Sparro has a new album coming our soon called Return To Paradise. It’s been a while since he hit it big last, but the buzz singles like “Pink Cloud” and “Yous A Nasty” are even better than the previous singles, which is why we are so excited for this project!
Video Premiere: “Ladi Dadi” by Steve Aoki featuring Wynter Gordon
Sexy Track: “Movement” by Katy B
1It’s about to be a dance-tastic end-of-year. Katy B has delivered one of the best dance songs of the year with this track. “Movement” is a solid contender in ruling the DJ spins this year. It’s a get-up-and-strut kind of track, the kind that starts a night. It is reminiscent of such classics as Nina Sky’s “Move Your Body” and Lumidee’s “Uh Oh.” Fresh on the vocals, this song has one thing in mind and that is a good time. With this track, Katy B’s career seems to be going strong. This is the sixth single from her Mercury Prize-nominated On A Mission.
Sexy Track: “Jolene” by Lay Low
3You know we are on a covers binge, but this one takes the cake and the whipped cream on top. Leave it to an Icelandic chanteuse to take one of the biggest songs in pop history and turn it into a flowing and mellow number that brings up a darker side of the lyrics. Lay Low, turned this Dolly Parton classic into a sombre multi-layered number without making the lyrics schmaltzy. She grew up singing Dolly Parton tracks, so she is no stranger to the country singer’s melodic prowess. The track is handled with great consideration to the concept at hand, but a 21st century update is mandatory. And that is what it got. A must-listen to all cover version lovers.
First Listen: “Titanium” by David Guetta featuring SiA Furler
3David Guetta doesn’t tickle our fancy, well at least not with his last few releases. But,he made a good choice by collaborating with Sia, who we are crazy in love with. Her vocals shine through this otherwise lackluster track that neither introduces a new concept to dance music, nor does it sound any different than any other DJ out there. Still, Sia’s presence takes this song to a different level.
Erykah Badu to release a dance album or mixtape?
5Allegedly, the one and only soultress with the mostest Erykah Badu is venturing into the world of dance music. Rumors are circulating that with her new job as DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown has gotten her into the groove of making some shaking sounds. The queen of neosoul goes by different aliases like Medula Oblongata, Sera Ballum, Analog Girl In A Digital World and @Fatbellybella. So, it could be one of those phases. We all know how long Miss Badu takes to make an album.

First Listen: “Never Will Be Mine” by Robyn & Rye Rye
1
We are not the biggest fans of Rye Rye, but we do love us some premium Scandinavian pop from Robyn. This is a new collaboration between the two. No word on where it will be included. But, Robyn’s vocals are intact and if she is going to continue releasing those mini-albums, she better start collecting tracks. This is a remix of Robyn’s monumental track “Be Mine.” Click below to listen to the track.
Track list of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”
1Video Premiere: “Supercomputed” by Cornershop
2This has been done before. Time and time again. We don’t see where they are going with it. Cute video clip, though.
Legendary: “You See The Trouble With Me” by Black Legend
1This is a song that, when you first heard it, transformed the mood you were in to a thousand times better. It filled dance floors and ushered in a new era in dance music where soul was an acceptable accompaniment. The beat on this is so infectious and could turn a party around, until everyone started playing it.
Ke$ha picks “Cannibal” as third single!
1First it was “We R Who We R” then came “Blow.” Now, Ke$ha is now readying up a third release from Cannibal and its the track of the same name. What do you think should be the next single?
Again: Music For February: Disconia
9Disconia is pretty direct. It wants you to dance and dance good. It’s a great compilation to get you up and going. The music in it is meant to invigorate, yet rejuvenate. A transitional record that looks on to optimism with all the colors of the world. It’s filled with all the grand pop singles, many remixed tracks and some hidden gems here and there. 20 tracks, no qualms, just angulations. It’s also dedicated to a very special person in my life.
Details, official cover art of Moby’s new album “Destroyed” revealed!
1Moby is set to unleash his 10th album on us this May. The majority of the recording was done while Moby was touring. He’d stay up in his hotel room because of his insomnia and work on music at times like at 2 in the morning. He said “it seemed as if everyone else in the world is sleeping.” Any music he did not finish he would take back with him to his apartment and finish it there with the range of quarky instruments he owned. His friends Emily Zuzik, Inyang Bassey, and Joy Malcom as well as Moby himself all sang on the record. Musically, Moby summed it up as “broken down melodic electronic music for empty cities at 2 am.” He says the title of the album makes sense when he listens to the music.

Mark Ronson interview at Q Awards
1Exclusive: Music For September: Glumella
11After a series of happy-go-lucky compilations for the summer, we have collected all the sombre tracks for an autumn release. This is the result. This melancholic offering of electronic chill and dejected lowtempo ditties will sweep you away. It comes in celebration of the fact that many of the acts attributed to this sound have something coming out very soon. The compilation might not win you over at first listen, but once it does it’ll get you glued. The name comes from the feminization of the word “glum,” if there’s such a thing. Glumella might sound depressing, but it’s also soothing. We hope you enjoy it and your feedback is always appreciated.
Music For March: Moodulation

This is the compilation I shelved for a poppier and more uppity February. Si, it makes its debut in March and as much as my collection is overflowing with new sexy pop tracks for March. I managed to stick to my older mantra and that is to serve up some palatable chill music. This compilation is moody, yet sultry. I can honestly say that it is one of the best i had ever made and i have been doing this for quite a while now. It is something I would listen to. Actually, it was originally titled “Red Red Wine Playlist” and then I liked it so much it became Moodulation (a combination of the words “Mood” and “Modulation”). I hope you like it as much as I do.
