Paris Hilton sashays in Dubai
3It’s true, she’s bringing her freakshow of a show to the Gulf and we will probably all be glued to it. It’s funny that she decided to cover up for the show “in keeping with local customs.” Whose customs? Dubai is a big party shake-your-booty kind of a town. She’s such a poser. I wonder if the actual contestants are from the UAE or Arab or just anyone living in Dubai.
How Dubai urbanized in 10 seconds
It almost felt like 10 seconds in real time, too.
Paris Hilton to do show in Dubai
She talked briefly about it on The Ellen Show, but it turns out that it’s true. She is actually doing a BFF show in Dubai. She did the US twice and the UK once. But, she hasn’t gotten enough U’s, so she is doing the UAE. The show will follow the same format, but a little bit more discreet. The elaboration on that is not made available, but I am guessing she won’t be veiled. No word yet, on what or where the contestants are going to be / from. But, it is going to be an interesting bunch of episodes. For the full article go here. Next up, Uruguay.
Dubai Sheikh wanted to buy Slumdog actress
7The father of the the little girl who played the main character’s love interest in Slumdog Millionaire has tried to sell her for 200,000 British pounds to, what the tabloids are alleging now, a so-called “Dubai Sheikh.” No names have surfaced yet and the father has been arrested. There are claims of a video tape arising about that meeting. I just can’t believe that there were two adults that would actually go along in these negotiations to buy a child. And it had to be someone from this part of the world to have no value to human life, or a women’s life, where it come to the actuality that a human life is for purchase, a la the slave trade years. What a shame! I hope the name comes out for all to know. Good thing the actress’s mother informed authorities in time.

New York Times rates Beirut #1 place to visit in 2009…

As much as I like Beirut, I don’t think they got it right this time. I mean Beirut has its charm, but it is definitely not the greatest spot on Earth to vacation in. At first, I thought the article was trying new things, but it totally discredited itself when they put Doha, Qatar in 9th place. Dubai, maybe. But, Doha?

Wataniya Airways TV commercial…
The commercial looks exciting, the airline colors look better. I still can’t get over the banal name, but I hope they add exciting and marvelous destinations to there route map. Dubai doesn’t quite cut it.

Wataniya Airways logo review…
1
I am always excited at the prospect of more flights getting us out. Even if they are just taking is to Dubai. There’s room for expansion. But, Wataniya Airways just unveiled this banal logo. I mean, you have a whole airline, get a little creative and stray out the lines. The typeface is nice but it’s been done and the logo is just boring and vapid. It looks like they played around with one of the Star Alliance triangles or this charter airline from Sarajevo:
The opening of Atlantis in Dubai…
The opening of Atlantis was a great spectacle, I have to say. The palm came to life. I have never seen such a display of fireworks. But, it wasn’t fun swimming in a beach the next day with pieces of firework cardboard floating around. The environment, anyone?
