Official cover for Madonna’s “Sticky & Sweet”

13 01 2010

Another year, another blaze Madonna release. This is the artwork for the Sticky & Sweet disc. We can’t believe she is still sticking with that horrid typeface and the skew. Plus, she had to be on a screen to appear like she wasn’t retouched. When was the last time we saw Madonna’s current face all up on a sleeve?

P!nk to release live CD/DVD of Funhouse Tour

14 10 2009

funhouse tour live in australia

Pink’s extensive tour for Funhouse (mainly in her prime markets – Australia and Germany) has gone on for a long time. P!nk is a vigorous tourer, for a lack of a better word. This CD/DVD is supposed to highlight the best of the tour. Expect a whole lot of hanging from ceilings and some acrobatics.

Documentary: The September Issue

9 10 2009

The_september_issue

This documentary has turned heads a-many while it was being done and during its promo.  It seemed to pique the world’s interest as the revelatory bio-doc on Anna Wintour – the most notorious figure in the fashion world. This was also heightened by the fact that The Devil Wears Prada was sold as an inside-look at Anna Wintour wicked ways.

But, once the documentary starts you realize that it is not the sensationalist bring-the-dirt kind of documentary. In fact, it is a kind of tepid look at the making of the fashion industry’s bible and the title of this documentary. Anna Wintour actually comes out as a loving mother and sister with minimal drama. Even Andrea Leon Talley appears to be more talk, less glamour. This was probably commissioned to counter-attack the mainstream image of Anna Wintour. It’s kind of boring, actually, and we came out of it thinking that the people in charge of fashion and aesthetic beauty in this world are, in fact, themselves quite ugly.

Documentary: Lagerfeld Confidential (2007)

6 01 2009

l_e63bb1e7d7cf8d3dc00612d622b4e602Karl Lagerfeld’s legacy and ingenuity is well-documented, but the person behind the icon leaves a lot to the imagination. This one-on-one documentary attempts to unravel the mystery behind the diva and does a good job at it. It starts out with a series of coffee table interviews that chronicle everything from his childhood to his perception of death. He champions himself “the priest of non-believers,” while fluttering across religious subject matters and boasts about a non-theistic upbringing.

Music DVD: Live At Wembley – The Spice Girls

4 12 2008

51gmd0x0sjl_ss500_Watched it last night and the night before. It’s there worst performance really. But, worst for the Spice Girls is still good. The set-up was nothing special but the songs carried the whole show. Still, it’s not the same without Geri Halliwell. The extras are worthless. It’s fun for a background visual. That’s it, really.

Why Girls Aloud are so fierce…

4 12 2008

You know, their budget for the tour couldn’t have been large and they didn’t get many people to work on it, but this is one of the fiercest entrances I have ever seen. And although I haven’t forgiven them for their latest album cover, I have to give them props for being the most ferosh girl band today.

Pop vending machines by sony…

31 10 2008

Sony is releasing these vending machines that will have DVDs, CDs, USBs and pretty much everything that has been acronymized. This is set to hit the UK this winter and I wonder what kind of stuff they will stock. I feel like its all going to be like Snakes On Planes DVDs and Coldplay CDs. Anyway, its an exciting feature.
