Introducing… Selah Sue
3Two minutes ago we were taken aback by Selah Sue. Her voice, attitude and her demeanor is not that of the average singer. We are very excited about her and are looking forward to listening to more and more. Here’s a synopsis of her story: “Selah Sue was not destined to become an artist. “I grew up in a really little town in Belgium, and none of my family was into music,” reveals the twenty‐one year old, with refreshing sincerity. “As a kid, I wanted to be a ballerina. I danced from the age of six to twelve”. Even without romanticising it, her story is like a fairy tale. It’s the story of a young musician who ignores her fate, and pours her anxieties into her songs and her guitar. “I had all these worries and depressions that I wrote down, it was a way of structuring my thoughts”.
Erykah Badu working on new album with Flying Lotus, Gorillaz
2The queen of neosoul, Erykah Badu, is back in the studio laying some major beats with new collaborators. The Analog Girl In A Digital World is making waves with UK-based Gorillaz and producer Flying Lotus. Usually, Erykah Badu albums takes ages to be released, but we have a feeling this will be coming out sometime this year as Badu rarely announced her work-in-progress efforts. At any rate, it’s always good to hear.
Legendary: “You Sent Me Flying (Live)” by Amy Winehouse
1This is one of our favorite Amy Winehouse tracks ever. One time we spent 6 hours listening to it on repeat on a flight from Amsterdam to Kuwait. Lovely song and her reference to Erykah Badu was so timely, her voice flawless.
Erykah Badu to release a dance album or mixtape?
5Allegedly, the one and only soultress with the mostest Erykah Badu is venturing into the world of dance music. Rumors are circulating that with her new job as DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown has gotten her into the groove of making some shaking sounds. The queen of neosoul goes by different aliases like Medula Oblongata, Sera Ballum, Analog Girl In A Digital World and @Fatbellybella. So, it could be one of those phases. We all know how long Miss Badu takes to make an album.

Must-Watch: Video Premiere: “Gone Baby, Don’t Be Long” by Erykah Badu
1Erykah Badu has disappeared, as usual, so we thought that she got over her second installation of the New Amerykah series, which is also her final of it. But, she dropped into 2011 with a much-wanted video for one of the best tracks on an equally stellar album. “Gone Baby, Don’t Be Long” is tale of longing from an analog girl onto the digital world.
