Exclusive: Nasser Loves Whitney

As you might have noticed if you follow us on Twitter and/or Facebook, we are totally devastated from the death of the legendary Whitney Houston. Not only because she made a great contribution to the world of music, but also because we are music aficionados and we care a lot about this kind of music as we believe it has, not only an artistic impact but also a cultural one all over the world. Whitney is one of the greatest forces of that change and the progress of pop – a genre we love. At any rate, we know that you are about done right now with hearing “I Will Always Love You” blasted all over the media – A cover song that is originally Dolly Parton’s. For Micheal Jackson it was “Billie Jean” and for Amy Winehouse it was “Rehab.” And, as you might expect from Loft965.com, we are not ones to stop at the big hits only. So, we decided to compile a playlist for all the songs and remixes in Whitney Houston’s career that might go forgotten right now just like we did for Michael Jackson. Here it is. We hope you enjoy it.

Stop Internet Censorship!

Now that they took down Megaupload, it’s time for action. We’re all here having a good time posting, reposting, sharing, tweeting, emailing, uploading, retweeting and rejoicing. But, the corporate demagogues are out to get the people again. Read more here about the dirty world of internet censorship and help keep the world wide web a place for freedom to run wild. Video Premiere: “Shady Love” by Scissor Sisters Vs. Krystal Pepsy

This is totally out of the Scissor Sisters’ ballpark, but it is a little jumpy. Not our cup of tea really, although we love when Jake Shears’ vocals come in. But, we don’t like the direction nor do we think the band should continue this way. Let’s hope the new album packs a punch with some premium glam rock and alternative twists, like we are used to.

Again: Music For December: Yoyode

3

To close off the year with a bang or two, we introduce to you Yoyode. The new compilation that will bring you some hefty hits, cathartic end-of-year tracks and new sounds for the future. Now over-looming concept here just the tracks that can usher in a new year without making it blatantly timely or too ceremonial. The numbers range from big hits from household names, to track we had to dig real deep to find. It starts of with a lovely instrumental notes and then takes twists and turns that will hopefully be to your liking. Enjoy bringing in the new year with this one!

Introducing… Lianne La Havas

5

Watch out for the new beats of 2012. Lianne La Havas is a great new talent that sounds and feels like a merger between Corinne Bailey Rae and Norah Jones without the pretense. Her sound is raw and sombre. She takes bluesy folk into a contemporary dimension, very much in the Ane Brun sense. She is a child of the Instagram generation. The young (only 21) damsel has just signed to major label Warner Music and she will be making waves next year, although she has garnered quite a following on Twitter and Facebook. More to come from this lovely newcomer.

Again: Music For October: Iberone

3

This is the one some of you have been waiting a long time for. After too many a-dosage of pop and soul, the sombre and more acoustic sister has reared its head. Iberone is for the sullen boys and girls. An ode for the Autumn times. The tracks are more rock-based and folk-tinted. The girls of here take music very seriously and pen their lyrics in detail and emotion. It’s one of those mixes you play when you are doing something on the computer or cooking a friend or loved one a big bowl of pasta and/or uncorking a bottle of Pinot Noir. Sit back and absorb some of the most beautifully-moody melodies.

Video Premiere: “Hello Hello” by Bic Runga

2

The stupendous Bic Runga is back after a long break from the  music industry with this cute, yet loud number. She’s gone all rock on this one, but we hope it’s just the buzzy first single as we love the mellow Runga on “I’m Leaving” and “Say After Me.” At any rate, the new album will be out soon and its called Belle.

Rihanna announces new album title!

1

Rihanna is releasing albums so fast that sometimes its hard to distingiush which song came from which record off the top of our heads. The album is set to debut in November, the same day Michael Jackson’s Immortal and Mary J. Blige’s My Life II are slated to be released. But, something tells us that she will be topping the charts. Oh, and it’s called Talk That Talk.
