Finland understands the potential of information and the access to it. Therefore, one of our favorite countries stepped up to introduce a law that would make it mandatory for every citizen to have a physical connection to the internet of at least 1 Mbps speed. Yes, you read it right. It’s a requirement by law and if that’s not enough, by 2015, everybody should have a connection that is 100 Mbps or faster. That doesn’t mean that the people will not pay for it, it just means that every person has the right to have a connection whenever they want to. Now, that’s what we call progress!

Whitney Houston will tour Europe soon!

1

Whitney Houston is actually going full-on with I Look To You. She is embarking on a tour of Europe early 2010. The tour starts in April with an extensive tour in the UK. Then Whitney moves on to Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Belgium. Surely France dates will be added and, maybe, Italy and Spain. But, if it sells out additions are  expected, as always. We hope she’s in top form even as most critics are saying that her voice is not the same. Sometimes she speaks instead of singing, don’t you think?

Nokia to release a laptop called Booklet 3G

Yes, Nokia has gone and done it. They are tapping into the laptop market with this mini-”booklet” that is supposed to be coming to a store near you in the future. It’s called a the Booklet 3G and it has a 10.1-inch display. But it will have a high resolution, apparently. Also, you can put a SIM card in it, which should make for a great marriage between a laptop and a phone. I might just ditch Blackberry and go back to Nokia. You know my love for everything Finnish.

Design: The Aalto Vase

2

aalto_vase_160mm_purple_whitejpgRecently I have been obsessed with everything Finnish. So, for the next couple of days I am bombarding you with how fabulous the Fins are. This is called an Aalto Vase (or a Savoy Vase as wiki would say) and it is the unique design by Alvar Aalto and his wife who doesn’t share his last name and is uncredited.  It shape comes in different colors and sizes and there’s a store wholly dedicated to it. I got one white vase and a magnet and a ice maker. It’s quiet an investment though, but you on get quality from the Fenno-Scandi peninsula as I came to find out.
