“Genre-smashing musical pioneers Goldfrapp announce their brand new album Head First to be released through Mute on March 23, 2010. This will be preceded by the fantastic new single ‘Rocket’ on March 9th. Head First is Goldfrapp’s most powerful trip to date, a speedy rush of synth optimism, euphoria, fantasy and romance. With life affirming lyrics and stellar production it lifts off at full tilt and takes us on a journey to the heart of 2010. The duo’s fifth album, Head First is written and produced by band mates Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory and was recorded throughout 2009 in Bath and in London.”
Goldfrapp is in the middle of her campaign for Head First. This is a little teaser released on YouTube.
So, we wait long enough for a return to form with Head First after her brief stint at folk, which wasn’t too bad, and we get a single-digit 9 tracks! Here’s teh track listing of the album:
1. Rocket
2. Believer
3. Alive
4. Dreaming
5. Head First
6. Hunt
7. Shiny And Warm
8. I Wanna Life
9. Voicething
2010 is going to be Sarah McLachlan’s year. Not only does she have a new album ready (which this single is a cut off of), but she is also about to relaunch her monumental Lilith Fair tour. “One Dream” is a contending theme song for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. It’s your run-of-the-mill Sarah number. But, hey, if it ain’t broke why fix it? The album is yet to be titled and is probably slated for a summer release.
Goldfrapp are set to debut their first single off of their new album Head First. “Rocket” is a return to form, but still a different direction. It’s less experimental dance and more club ready. The artwork’s a bit La Roux, though. Click below to listen to the track. (Thanks Jorge for the heads up).
This songs has a very clear sample of Michael Jackson “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough.” So, this makes it hard for us to like this track that sample one of the greatest songs in pop history. But, Beyonce does manage to bring some funk to the track. We wonder if this is from the I Am… Sasha Fierce sessions, or something from a new album or a tribute to MJ. Click below to listen to the track.
Goldfrapp is working hard at the studio to produce her latest and, some mights say, greatest. In March we will be introduced to another rough of electropop that is less Seventh Tree and more Supernature. According to her record label, the album will be a “speedy rush of synth optimism, euphoria, fantasy and romance.” We can’t wait for it as Goldfrapp was the only shock of music glam we had pre-GaGa. It’s finally here and it looks spectacular. After four toned-down covers (including the unplugged one) she has opted for a little bit of glamor. The Element Of Freedom is set to be Alicia Keys’ fourth full-length album. It has been pushed back a little but that is only to make room for the stellar single “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” to shine. The first single wasn’t to our amusement, but we are sure that we will find gems once we download.
It’s about time! Disney’s new animated movie has a black female as the main character. The Princess & The Frog is an old tale that’s getting a revamping of sorts by Disney. It will be done in Disney’s traditional “by hand” animation. It will also feature Oprah Winfrey as the voice of Tiana’s mother Eudora. We can’t wait for this! She already has her own float in Disney World, click below to see it.
By a stretch! Time for a celebration!
Nerina Pallot is set to take over with her third album. She ups the quirk ante but stays in line with pretty pop tunes. This is the first single and video from The Graduate and it will be released on October 19th.
This is the first look into the artwork for the sleeve of the Leona Lewis sophomore album Echo. It’s cute, her pose is suggestive, and the re-toucher knows what he/she is doing. Let me guess, this album will feature a “more mature” Lewis singing about grown up thing. The album is set to be released November 11th. Lewis has worked with Ryan Tedder, Justin Timberlake, Max Martin, Xenomania and James Fauntleroy amongst others to produce this follow-up to her debut album Spirit.
It’s a good day for us here at the Loft965.com camp. We are celebrating our first anniversary. Yes, we are 1. It has been a year since we built this blog that started out with a simple concept but with high aspirations. A lot has changed since the inception of this blog. But, all-in-all it was a great journey and we’ve accomplished a lot.
We never wanted to be a local blog or a personal only-my-friends kind of blog. Also, we refused to use any from of advertising until this blog is up on its feet and successful. The mission was tough at first but we reaped the fruits of our labor later. Our growth rate as of now is 530%, which is more than what was planned. Originally, our game plan was to get a readership that will keep this blog afloat internationally. We have far surpassed that. Actually, we are overwhelmed by the response. We happen to be approaching our best month in numbers.
We are truly happy about what this space has become. Thanks goes out to the contributing bloggers, people who send us ideas, record labels who sent us free stuff, people who forwarded our posts, and everyone that pressed the “bookmark” button on us. You are muchly appreciated and we hope to keep amusing you with this blog for the second year. Thank you.
Still, as before: all her songs sound the same. Her heyday was with Frou Frou. This just seams redundant and the video looks late 90s’. Heard to songs from Ellipse. It sounds the same as its predecessor.
Björk’s first album, which was released only in Iceland with a limited number of copies, is very hard to find. It’s almost as much of a collectible as the first vinyl pressings of Elvis Presley’s christmas album. So, it came as a beautiful surprise when we found it today while looking for some obscure remixes. And, more so, the 11 year old’s effort is not so bad. It’s filled with cover songs translated into Icelandic with the exception of one song writtern by her stepdad called “Arabadrengurinn,” which means “The Arab Boy.” I wonder what this song is about, can anyone find the English translation. At any rate, it’s a great find.
