Alicia Keys duets with Stephen Colbert

Alicia Keys was on The Colbert Report Tuesday December 15th to promote her new album The Element Of Freedom, which features collaborations with Beyonce and Drake. Plus, part two of her and Jay-Z’s hit song “Empire State Of Mind.” She sat down for an interview and performed “Empire State Of Mind (Part II) Broken Down” with some help from Stephen Colbert himself!

Alicia Keys’ highly-awaited fourth album with the blah single “Doesn’t Mean Anything” and the terrific single “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” has been leaked to the internets and everyone is going crazy including Beyonce fans because there is a duet on there with B. The album is bound to have a lot of yummy ditties as with every Alicia Keys record.

It’s finally here and it looks spectacular. After four toned-down covers (including the unplugged one) she has opted for a little bit of glamor. The Element Of Freedom is set to be Alicia Keys’ fourth full-length album. It has been pushed back a little but that is only to make room for the stellar single “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” to shine. The first single wasn’t to our amusement, but we are sure that we will find gems once we download.

We know that Alicia Keys had something up her sleeve when she released her first single from The Element Of Freedom. it sounded mediocre and it is not what we expect from soulstress Alicia. She has hidden this new single. One of the best tracks of the year on first listen. “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” is an impeccable mid-tempo moody number that should hold the #1 spot if there’s any justice. It’s truly a gem.

This is a new photo from the promo sessions for Alicia Keys’ fourth full-length album The Element Of Freedom, which has been postponed to Docermber 15, 2009. The record label insists that Ms. Alicia Keys herself wants to add some tracks to the album and that is the reason for the push-back. But, something smells fishy as Alicia was doing the promo campaign for it already and this fall quarter is very busy. Maybe, she is trying to avoid other artists as every album she ever had debuted at #1 in the US charts. So, she probably is avoiding a slip from that glory.

Kuwait: Best place in the Middle East for press freedom

1

575px-Kuwait-Islands

Speaking technically, Kuwait is currently #1 in the Middle East and the Arab World when it comes to freedom of the press. As much as we’d like to boast and rant on this accomplishment, it was not really due to Kuwait’s adamant effort on rectifying some of its freedom faults, but is a result of other countries faltering. This comes on because of Israel’s atrocious behavior in handling media rights during the horrific Gaza Strip massacre. Yes, Kuwait rose to #60 and became the Middle East’s champion merely because Israel fell hard. Inching closer is Lebanon right after at #61 (rising). Then the UAE at #86 and Qatar at #94, both of which steeply down. Still, is #60 good enough? It’s 60 out 175, which gives Kuwait a grade of 65.8/100. That’s a D!
