Movie: The Reader (2008)

reader_ver2 The Reader is a story of love and guilt. Centered around post-World War Germany. The plot, which is adopted from a book, revolves around the main character who fall for a woman twice his age after she helps him when he was to sick to get home. Once the Scarlett fever diminishes, the affluent main character revisits Kate Winslet’s dainty apartment to thank her, only to embark on a passionate love affair.

When the sexual passion develops into heavy emotional baggage, she runs away leaving him with a broken heart and an inability to love again. 

Eight years after her sudden disappearance he attends a war crimes court as part of his law school program and sees her as one of the defendant. A whirlwind of thought overwhelms him. Correlations between her treatment of the concentration camp prisoners and their bond ensue.
