Allegedly, an upcoming tour dates rooster from the Madonna camp has leaked onto the internet. The list contains the entire dates and locations of the tour and it includes Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island as one of the dates. The concert was tentatively listed as happening on June 6th, 2012. There were previous rumors that Madonna was going to visit the UAE, but this is the first official mention, if that list is real. We will keep you updated. In a bid to further expand its youth programme, UNDP Kuwait is throwing the world-renowned PechaKucha night for youth to attend. Comedienne Hoda Marafie will be the hostess for the evening. The event will also have an exhibition with corporate and organization booths that cater to the youth of Kuwait.

Video Premiere: “Are You Leaving” by Erik Hassle
1We are very excited for new material from Sweden‘s best male export Erik Hassle. This is up to par with his previous recordings and not a bad say at all.
Must-Watch: Video Premiere: “Phakade” by Lira
2We have been waiting for this for a long long time. It’s here and this is a condensed version. Lovely balladry that brings the African wind right back to our memories. Lira is on a roll and will not stop at anything, this is just breathtaking, too bad you can only purchases it in South Africa.
Lira to release new single titled “Phakade”
5Lira has just tweeted that her new single from her fourth full-length album is going to be titled “Phakade.” Sony Music Africa is readying it up. Let’s hope that it gets a great video treatment, which is what we are used to from our South African export. For those of you who do not know this great chanteuse, she is probably one of the greatest vocalists of our time and has a brand of music that will put you in a lovely mood instantly. Last April we stopped by South Africa on our way to Zambia only to find out that her live CD/DVD was sold out from all stores. It’s been a while since we heard of a music release that has been sold out in its physical form. Check her out, you won’t be disappointed. Also, we need some Sesotho translators to tell us what the title means.
José González is coming to Kuwait!
3Jose Gonzalez, one of our favorite sombre folkies, is coming to Kuwait. REUSE 4.0 is clocking him in between his Australian and European tour with his new band Junip to stop over in Kuwait City for a one night only show at the environmentally conscious exhibition. His show will be of his solo material from both his albums, Veneer and In Our Nature, which are Loft965.com favorites. The show will take place in the Australian College of Kuwait (ACK).
Let’s hope we hear some new songs alongside classics like “Heartbeats,” “Crosses” and the impeccable cover of Kylie Minogue’s “Hand On Your Heart.” Click below for more information on how to buy the tickets for the January 11th show.
Download: Music For December: Breezine
10Breezine is the last installation of the 2009 compilations. It features some tracks we have saved throughout the year. In short, it is basically the music we listen to. There is no specific concept to the album but it ranges on the stratosphere of mid-tempo and instrumentation that is less computerized and rawer. We hope you like this offering, it’s early so that you get it before the break and because we are going to be head to South Korea / Philippines in an hour or so. So, enjoy it and and give us some good tasty feedback. It’s a 14-hour flight so you better amuse us when we check.
Maldives government holds meeting underwater in protest
1In protest of the threat of global warming, the Maldives government has held a cabinet meeting underwater. We have recently been there and we can see why they want to save this stretch of 1,200 islands that are, what looks like, paradise on earth. Maldives’ highest elevation doesn’t exceed the 2 meter mark. So, if there would be a slight rise in sea water levels, that would mean a wipe-out from the islands for the natives.
Due: An apology to Alan Turing
5Alan Turing is considered the father of computer science. In fact, some will go as far as claiming that he invented the modern-day computer. He revolutionized his science and propelled it to new grounds back when he was allowed. He even got Britain through a war with his genius. But, this respect was not reciprocated.
You see, Alan was gay and he was arrested for “gross indeceny” – the same law that persecuted Oscar Wilde. He was forced to choose between imprisonment or chemical castration. He chose the latter and after he was shunned and condemned. So, he committed suicide with some cyanide.
Now, the freaks and the geeks have come together to sign a petition to ask for an apology for this horrid and bigoted incident. Sign it here and let it be known that a queen is the reason why you are reading this right now. Go to his Wikipedia page to read more than my synopsis of him.
