Seal to release “Hits” album

Seal Hits

Being aware of his current dip in sales and the fact that his name only comes up when mentioning Heidi Klum, seal is attempting to revive his career by showing us just how many hits he has. It’s a greatest hits collection titled (surprise!) Seal Hits. The sleeve is not that enthralling and the package seems like another money-making gimmick. At any rate, it’ll be here soon.

Annie Lennox’s solo career compressed

2

Annie Lennox has had an impressive solo career, especially considering the fact that it’s heavily built on cover versions. Her double-platinum album Medusa is made up entirely of covers and the new single is an Ash cover. Her voice is her trademark and she has left a cultural impact on the pop world with her solo work and her time as one-half of the Eurythmics. This is a DJ Earworm compression of her solo efforts in celebration of her greatest hits collection.

Video: “Kill The Lights” by Britney Spears

1

Don’t get your panties up in a bunch, it’s just an animated video for one of the best songs of Circus. There’s no excuse for it. When she did the animated video for “Break The Ice” we understood because she was going through rehab. Now, why this? I mean a live version with some graphics, in the Madonna manner of “Miles Away” and “Get Together,” would have been better than this Bratz looking fiasco! For such a fun and happening song she should have done something elaborate and dancey, but something tells me Britney just wants to release as many songs as possible to fill a singles compilation coming out soon.

Melanie C to release video collection

Melanie C - Video CollectionWhen it rains, it pours. Melanie C will not only release a live DVD but also a video collection of all her hits and misses from the major label days to the indie cuts. It will contain some new material and will also have a bonus disc of features. A whole disc! In any case, C has been on a hiatus to give birth and this is what a lot of office time, but no studio time does. Continue reading

Smash Hits magazine to re-launch for Michael Jackson

1

smashhitsjacko

Smash Hits magazine, the magazine that I lived on and loved during a big chunk of my adolescent years, if coming back. Only for one issue to commemorate the life and legacy of Michael Jackson. This magazine was really the greatest piece of pop journalism before the advent of the internet. It’s editor-in-chief was once Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys. I hope that this issue will make the Smash Hitters think about relaunching it forever. Maybe as a blog?

Madonna names collection “Iconography”

She’s at it again. Selling out for money and nothing else. Many say this is her third greatest hits compilation. I say it’s the fourth. The Immaculate Collection, Something To Remember, GHV2 and Iconography. Madonnaheads will say Something To Remember is a concept album. But most of the tracks on it are from older albums or soundtracks or EPs. And don’t get me started on her EPs. Whatever it is, the new name is fitting. She’ll hire some rapper and put out a horrid little tune that will be remixed 20 times and played at circuit parties until I am 71. That doesn’t mean it’s good, though.

Outstanding day for Loft965.com

In the 10 short months that we have operated and maintained this little blog, we have seen a constant rise in number. But, yesterday was a monumental day for the Loft965.com offices (Again, whatever couch I am on in whatever city I happen to be in). We usually get a nice hefty chunk of visitors for such a young blog. But, yesterday was one of the best days.

Yesterday Loft965.com got 32,875 unique visitors in a single day (June 17, 2009). That is due to three reasons. Firstly, the daily visitors that log in everyday or so, they are the platform and are predominant. Secondly, 2 recent posts that were very popular (this and this) and an old one that keeps bringing in people everyday (this). Thirdly, the mentions on ABC News, Twitter trends, numerous blogs, Google Blog Search Headlines and StumbleUpon. (Update: I am on the front page of WordPress Now as a “Hawt Post”).

Of course, much thanks to all the people that continuously visit, or RSS, because that is the platform from which I build. It’s my strongest base. Then to all the newcomers. I hope you like the blog. And if you do, bookmark it!

The Unfollow Diddy Phenomenon

1

twit

Over on Twitter, there is this huge movement to unfollow diddy, which basically means that people are either not following him or just talking smack and trying  to piss of diddy. He can annoying at times and churchy, too. But, he’s harmless really. A little pompous, though. Sometimes he talks about fun music stuff. Well, sometimes he’s just plain arrogant. Erg, I cant decide.

Follow me, though: nasque

Madonna to offer another piece-of-crap product

6

Remember this ostentatiously horrid track suit that madonna tried to sell you on big Piccadilly Circus billboards from H&M? Well that is not the only way that this increasingly insignificant diva is trying to get your money with.

Following the get-your-cash schemes of Sticky & Sweet tour and the utterly horrid Hard Candy, Madonna is set to “please” her fans with a greatest hits collection.

Amazing Girls Aloud performance on the Brits

Finally, the girls get the recognition they deserve. What a lovely performance introduced by, none other than the real queen of pop, Kylie Minogue. On top of that they got their first Brit for “The Promise.” Everyone was amazed they beat Coldplay, I wasn’t. They’re like U2, their fans are so defense about that that they can’t do wrong. Listen, even Mariah does wrong. ‘Nuff said. Click below to see them accept the award and all kinds of drunken fun from Sarah Harding.
