India Arie announces new album titled “Open Doors”

India Arie has tweeted that her next project is not a continuation of the Testimony series but a whole new concept album based on duets. Maybe that was sparked by her collaboration catalogue. New song with Santana, previous recordings with Sergio Mendes, John Mellencamp, Stevie Wonder, Anthony David, P!nk and Akon. The album is called Open Doors and is set to drop sometime in the fall/winter bracket.

India.Arie took on Lady Gaga and Beyonce’s latest video “Telephone” in a recent ramble on Twitter. The neosoul singer went on a tirade on how it’s degrading and there is too much nudity. What we need to know, is what is wrong with nudity? Why is it so wrong? Not everyone has to subscribe to Arie’s religious beliefs that she sings about and annoys us with every album. Lady Gaga’s video was sucky to us, but we are not judging it from a moral persepective. Morals and art never go hand-in-hand and whoever tells you otherwise is stupid. By the way, this is the same women that worked with Akon on a remix.

India Arie is always nominated but rarely wins. This time around she actually won a Grammy. The awards was for Best Urban/Alternative Performance. The track was “Pearls.” She deserves it!

2Couture, it’s called. And if it is anything like her other ones then it’s nothing short of fabulous. Also in other Impossible Princess news: Kylie’s set to star in a bollywood movie and sing a song penned by none other than Academy Award winner, AR Rahman. We’ll see how this’ll turn out, although I still want her to do a new album fast.

Testimony, Vol. 2: Love & Politics comes out today and I can’t say how ecstatic I am for it. We can only expect the best from the only artist that has perfected the fusion of folk and soul.

I thought I would tell you just a little about some of the guests whom were gracious enough to record with me. Two of the songs are already out…so you might know about them! LOL. India Arie unveils new album cover…
This is the cover for the long awaited Testimony: Vol. 2, Love & Politics. The album was supposed to come out earlier but it has been pushed back a couple of times and is slated, now, for a February release. I don’t know why all the neosoul artists are doing this album-series thing. Jill scott did it first and now India Arie, Erykah Badu and Maxwell are all following suit.
India Arie releases two new singles…
Readying up for the release of the muchly-anticipated Testimony, Vol. 2: Love & Politics, India Arie has released not one but two singles on iTunes. “Chocolate High,” which features Musiq Soulchild or whatever he is calling himself these days and “Therapy.” The album is sounding poppier than I expect and I am a fan of the folkster in India, but I am sure it will be a great offering what with song titles such as “Vagina’s Monologues.” The album comes out 10th of February, 2009.
