Bjork says art and science have to unite in the 21st century!

2

The ever-so-lovely Bjork has spoken for the merger of the beautiful and logical. In an interview with the Guardian, the Icelandic damsel said: “Well, seems like science and art were pretty much the same thing for thousands of years until the industrial revolution and the enlightenment separated them. I feel the 21st century is going to be the one where not only they can unite again but they have to …”

Bjork’s song “Virus” leaks!

1

A third song from Icelandic goddess Bjork’s eagerly-awaited Biophilia has leaked. In true Bjork fashion, it throws you a new arrangement at every angle and although its hard to digest, it’s easier and prettier than usual. Much to many people’s dismay, Bjork’s “return to form” is sounding like nothing we have heard before, but surprisingly, we (who didn’t appreciate Volta muchly and didn’t care for Medulla) are actually liking what we hear. A lot of strings make the heart cozy. Click below to listen to it.

Must-Watch: Video Premiere: “Crystalline” by Bjork

1

Bjork is back with a visual to titivate and show all the little boys and girls what a great video should be like. The song is a grower and we absolutely adore the ambient part towards the end. Lovely track with a whole lotta gusto. This is the first single off of her new album Biophilia, let’s hope all other tracks follow the same mantra!

Bjork announces first single from “Biophilia” titled “Crystalline”

Hold the press! One of the world’s greatest artists has unleashed some good news. Bjork‘s new album, which is set to come in iPad app form, is ready to blast! Biophilia has gotten a first single and its called “Crystalline,” which means “having the structure and form of a crystal.” Leave it to Bjork our vocabulary not once but twice before her album is released. Apparently, the album will be a meeting of music and nature. That has always been the case with Bjork’s album, but we will swing it as a new concept. This is very exciting news!

Must-Watch: Video Premiere: “Friday” by Rebecca Black

You are probably surprised as to why we said this is a “must-watch.” Well, as tacky as it is, this is the stuff that sells to tweens, and this demographic makes the charts. No, we would never listen to it on our iPod, but it’s so kitschy it has to get somewhere.

Finally got the iPad!

We managed to get it with the last standing dock in the entire country. It’s 64 GB, that means it could only take a third of our music collection if we decided to fill it up completely. Let’s not even consider the videos. So, we just settled for Undersea Poem’s debut and Kate Nash’s My Best Friend Is You (maybe tomorrow Janelle Monae’s Archandroid and Natalie Merchant’s Leave Your Sleep). But, we love it. We already got all the magazine subscriptions that we can’t get over here because some censor decided to have a field day on boobies. The application is called Zinio and we got yearly memberships of Rolling Stone and Out. Because, we are. It’s smooth and handy. We love it and can’t get enough of it. And, no, it’s not a big iPhone or a small Macbook Air. It’s a creature of its own, especially if you like reading. Best apps post coming up soon. We called it LoftPad, bitches.

Exclusive: Music For October: Urbanette

urbanette

We hope we didn’t fill your iPod with too much gloom last month, but a little melancholy is always good. But, this time around we compiled the perfect antidote. It’s not too sugary sweet, yet not sulking sad. It’s sauve and soulful. Rich with melody and lyrical epiphany. We’d like to think of Urbanette as a determined woman of stature and beauty.

Yes, it’s a female-soul compilation. Apart from the opening track by Alphabeat (we put it on there because we couldn’t resist hiding it for another month), every track on there is straight up R&B and/or soul. Even the Alphabeat track has elements of gospel-tinted yelps as an homage to early 90s’ house. At any rate, this album is a showcase or voices, perseverance, class and drama, to say the least. We hope you enjoy.
