Barack does Cairo
So, I stayed up ’til 6 am to watch Obama’s speech on live stream through YouTube and I must say it was worth it. Maybe, he came of as too catering to the expectations of the region and, maybe, he gave the conservatives in the US enough material to taunt him for the rest of his incumbency. But, to make recollection, there has never been a US President so humble, understanding and keen on helping the world as he is. It could be just propaganda, but that rhetoric is truly new territory for a President of the US and its foreign policy. He did his research and he looked as confident and direct as ever. It’s nice to have that after 8 years of buffoonery.
American troops trying to convert people to Christianity
As if the US foreign policy’s reputation wasn’t tarnished enough, things like these still pop up to show the world how a big chunk of the American populous believe they are on some holy quest of sorts with those meaningless wars Bush has started but never finished. Now these troops are going around Afghanistan handing out bibles translated in Pushtu and Dari to citizens and label them as “gifts.” They say the are on a “hunt for Jesus.” What a great choice of words.
Now that Obama’s in office, a man that understands and respects everyone’s belief system, whether monotheistic or atheistic, the Pentagon has to get on top of this and makes sure that a bunch of rednecks don’t blemish the US’s rep in the region as did those Abu Ghuraib criminals. What is it about pious people and there firm belief that them, and only them, are on the right path? Isn’t that some sort of sociopathic behavior? And why is this not on CNN?

So, this was in Al-Qabas today and it should have been in the comics sections. I don’t know where these beardists or terrorist-embryos get off on saying that if one votes for a woman then they are going to hell. I would like to know what verse that comes from or at least what is their works cited.

As the world stays wide alert about this epidemic that is responsible for killing 50 a century ago and hopes it will not turn into a pandemic, the non-sensical conservatives are at it again. On one side the American conservatives are touting stricter border control regulations and a crackdown on immigration to curb this epidemic which has allegedly spread from Mexico. One the other, the islamist fundamentalists, beardists, fanatics or whatever you want to call them these days, are glorifying it as some sign from the heavens that pork is all kinds of evil.

According to this article, Michael Jackson has been converted. These rumors have been circulating for ages now, but this one seems to be true as all the news agencies are talking of it. It started with Jermaine Jackson and then the Bahrain residence and now his name is Mikaeel. I don’t understand why you have to change your name if you convert. It’s not mandatory. And he has the world’s most recognized name. I don’t know what to think of this but he sure looks good in a burqa.

I am so excited for “Religulous” that I keep watching every trailer. I know it won’t be available here because we have some hate-mongers that are ever-so-willing to infringe on other people’s freedom of speech and thought. But, I heard from people who have seen it that it is fabulous. Here’s the trailer. If anyone knows whether it hit the Hawally rounds tell me.
