Lenny Kravitz’s farewell video to Teena Marie!
Lenny Kravitz titles album “Black And White America”
Download: “Another Day” by Michael Jackson
8Over the weekend there have been reports that a never-before-heard Michael Jackson song by the name of “Another Day” has leaked. It’s supposed to be some sort of collaboration with Lenny Kravitz, although Mr. Kravitz does not appear in the 90 second snippet that has been leaked around the web. This song is allegedly supposed to surface on another Michael Jackson offering slated for this year, perhaps on the anniversary of his death? At any rate, we know MJ has a catalogue on untapped material and we can’t wait to hear all of it. We will make ready when it’s in it’s full format, possibly. Click below for the snippet.
Film Review: Precious (2009)
We’ve been waiting to see Precious (originally titled Push) for a while now. Not only is Mariah Carey in it but it got all these endorsements from Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry and awards. Also, the cast line-up is impressive including Lenny Kravitz, Sherri Shepherd and the ever-so-lovely Mo’Nique. So, it was a matter of getting the film. No convincing needed.
But, to tell you the truth. It wasn’t that big of a movie moment for us. At times, we thought the script was lacking. Precious’ character was the ultimate victim, but she sure has a lot of attitude. The plot seemed a little choppy at times, but not as drama-forcing as Tyler Perry movies. Her story needed to be told and it delivered a strong and depressing message across. The movie surprisingly sinister at times and lacked an uplift.
All-in-all, it wasn’t a bad movie to watch. But, it wasn’t the big epic of a flick of a movie everyone was rambling on about. We expected a The Color Purple opus and all we got is a cross between a Tyler Perry movie and an obscure foreign film. This is one of the only movies that can probably fit in arthouse cinema, African-American genre and psuedo chick flick. It’s great to have experienced it and Mo’Nique performance deserves an Oscar and a half.
Oh, and Mariah was ostentatiously impeccable.
Precious gets another new look
1Mariah’s movie Precious has just gotten another revamp for mainstream audiences and the awards season. Now that it’s funded by none other than Oprah, it needs to make an impact both at the box office and the critics’ hearts. I think it looks more appealing than this.
