HRC is unveiling a collaboration with pop star Ke$ha to encourage everyone to celebrate their inner superstar and come out for equality. National Coming Out Day (NCOD) – a globally celebrated event encouraging LGBT people and their supporters to be visible by living open and honest lives – is celebrated each October 11th. The theme for 2011 NCOD is “Coming Out for Equality.”
This self-empowerment anthem is a rallying cry against all bullies, but most importantly the bully from within. Directed by acclaimed visual artist Duane Cramer, “Cause when its cold/you better bring your weather with you/Cause when your down/Bring your inner-diva around”. Featuring guest vocals by Sarah Dash, best known from the original Labelle w/ Patti Labelle and Nona Hendrix. Video also includes cameos by underground NYC superstars, LadyFag, Stephan Keating, Mila Jam, Laverne Cox (from VH-1′s “Transform Me”) and even a cameo from Ari’s Mom. Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan has went out for no apparent reason to name Rihanna “filthy” and her fans “swine.” Let’s have a little look at this man’s resume. First, he is one of Muammar al-Gaddafi‘s closest and most unrepentant allies (Also, he supports Robert Mugabe‘s torturous regime). Second, he has called for the social massacre of LGBT people. Third, he has supported sexist agenda and continues to do so. Fourth, he is an outspoken anti-semite. This is just to name a few. So, basically his evil is not contained. If he dislikes Rihanna, that’s a compliment to her.
Say what?! A recent New York Times interview cites Eminem admitting that he is for gay marriage. When asked: “You’ve been accused of writing gay-bashing lyrics in the past. Would you like to see gay marriage approved in Michigan, where you live?” And he replied: “I think if two people love each other, then what the hell? I think that everyone should have the chance to be equally miserable, if they want.”
After what? The violence and aggression that he and his fans showed throughout the years? Are we looking for new audiences now? So, you think gay people should be killed but also have the right to marry? Queen, please!
On his side again. What a moving speech. No international news channel broadcast this (except for a tiny bit in BBC International). They should have really. This message of change should’ve gotten across to the world because it’s not just an American issue, it’s an international issue. When the world listen to one of the most loved public figures the world over say such things they might realize that this is a issue of concern and look around them. Hate, in any form, should never be accepted. One’s beliefs shouldn’t curtail another person’s road to happiness. Anyway, getting too preachy here. But, you get the point. When it rains, it pours! New Hampshire just completed its blue sandwich with Vermont and became the 6th state to legalize same-sex marriage and continue the reign of equality that is taking the US by storm. It was only a matter of time that New England turns into a civil rights haven. Now, the only state left in New England is the tiniest state on earth – Rhode Island. It shouldn’t take up too long. New Hampshire lived to its state motto: “Live Free or Die.” Keep ‘em comin’! Meanwhile I leave you with a video that is both funny and informative, if you are a churchy.
