Janet Jackson recording new “up-tempo” album with Rodney Jerkins

3

The Best or Number Ones is not the only musical project one Miss Jackson is working on. She’s actually readying up a new album for early 2010 that is supposes to highlight the up-tempo Janet but also incorporate some mid-tempo tracks, according to the producer Rodney Jerkins. Let’s hope that Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis contribute to the album as well. “DarkChild” explained that fans can look forward to an emotionally driven album.

Rihanna’s video teaser for “The Wait Is Ova”

The first single is apparently called “Russian Roulette.” It is being primped for today! The fourth studio album by R&B singer Rihanna is scheduled to be released on November 23, 2009. Rihanna has worked with several song-writers and producers on the album, including Akon, Carl Sturken and Evan Rogers, Drake, Ne-Yo, Ryan Tedder and Justin Timberlake. She has also teamed up with drum & bass duo Chase & Status.

Katy Perry releases MTV Unplugged album

Katy Perry

Katy Perry (or Stereotypia as we like to call her) wants people to know that she is not just a studio artist. So, she is readying up an MTV Unplugged CD/DVD filled with all her hits (five) and some other tracks to show you her acoustic prowess. The live date was filmed and recorded in Australia. Probably no single from it.

Nadia Ali reveals cover for new single “Fine Print”

Nadia Ali

You might not know Nadia Ali. But, she has been shaking the dance world for a couple of years now. This Pakistani-American of Punjabi decent was one part of the dance duo iiO. They are best known for their hit song “Rapture.” Their album Poetica received moderate success, but now she wants to do it on her own. “Fine Print” is her new single and it doesn’t stray too far away from her dance roots. The cover’s not too bad either. Looking forward to finding some top-notch dance tracks on her album.

P!nk to release live CD/DVD of Funhouse Tour

1

funhouse tour live in australia

Pink’s extensive tour for Funhouse (mainly in her prime markets – Australia and Germany) has gone on for a long time. P!nk is a vigorous tourer, for a lack of a better word. This CD/DVD is supposed to highlight the best of the tour. Expect a whole lot of hanging from ceilings and some acrobatics.

Ane Brun releases live album

l_853292b7ae4547178de9b28d699b8413

Ane Brun has performed some of her greatest material in Stockholm’s Concert Hall and happened to record it for everyone who couldn’t be there. This 2009 release is supposed to highlight the prolific artists greatest moments sung where she performs best – in concert.

Whitney Houston will tour Europe soon!

1

tourloft

Whitney Houston is actually going full-on with I Look To You. She is embarking on a tour of Europe early 2010. The tour starts in April with an extensive tour in the UK. Then Whitney moves on to Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Belgium. Surely France dates will be added and, maybe, Italy and Spain. But, if it sells out additions are  expected, as always. We hope she’s in top form even as most critics are saying that her voice is not the same. Sometimes she speaks instead of singing, don’t you think?

Official Britney Spears cover for Singles Collection

TSC656

Okay, so it’s not this one. And it’s not this one at all, too. If you are out of your gay mind and not buying this, you will probably end up with this cover (above) or just “3” as a download. Because, in all realness, if you don’t have all the tracks on this compilation you are probably to far into this paragraph. This is the official cover of the non-box set version of the Singles Collection.

Lady GaGa readies up “Fame Monster”

ladygagathefamemonster

As with every skyrocketing release, record companies are bound to feature a “deluxe version.” Lady GaGa is no exception. She is readying up her deluxe of The Fame titled The Fame Monster. This collection will include all the hits that you know and love from Lady Gaga including a bunch more. Her next single “Bad Romance” will be on it and a bunch of fan art, poetry and whatever else the record company can get for free.

Alicia Keys calls album “The Element Of Freedom”

Alicia Keys is making this year’s album release roster. Yes, her next album The Elements Of Freedom is coming out December first to cap off a very divalicious year. Her first single seems to be “Doesn’t Mean Anything” as it is making the promo rounds and it has a single cover. The sleeve is not that fabulous but it seems professional.

Cheryl Cole’s album cover, track listing for “Three Words”

11684687x

News around the British pop blogs is that this is the new cover for Cheryl Cole’s rushed debut album Three Words. We don’t think this is the case. Why? Well, because it’s too good and vague to be her album cover. It’s too Lykke Li. Cheryl would do something more commercial and text-heavy. We would be surprised if it was. Click below for the track list.

Tori Amos to do a Christmas album

a_lv_toriamos_09

2009 is the year for toriphiles. We get not one, but two studio albums. We still are not off the Abnormally Attracted To Sin binge, in fact yesterday we sat through the entire Tori Amos video collection. And now, we are getting a whole Christmas album by November 10th.

We usually don’t swallow Xmas treats too easily, but we know that Amos will give it her own non-churchie spin. In fact, she is calling it a “winter solstice” album rather than a Christmas album. Strip the songs of their original meaning and give them a newfound darker side like on Strange Little Girls. The album is tentatively titled Midwinter Graces. We already know her version of “Little Drummer Boy” and can’t wait to hear some more tracks on her Dusseldorf Sinful Attraction concert date.

Yes. It has arrived. The official tracklisting to the much-delayed Mariah Carey album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel.  We are mucho excited for this one. She trying to re-tap her early days as you can tell by the gospel-tinted version of “I Want To Know What Love Is.” I am surprised by all the obsessed remixes. But, hey, the more the merrier. Click below for the full track listing. Oh, and I love Mariah interludes!!

Booty Luv ready up “Say It”

bootyluv-sayit1

Booty Luv are finally talking about their new release. The album is titled after the first single. It’s called Say It and it will contain no cover versions what so ever. Booty Luv have worked with many different producers as opposed to one and plan on introducing new sounds. Some tracks on the album are “edgier” and include R&B and poppier sounds. It’s slated for a third quarter release along with another single.

Anouk reveals cover for “For Bitter Or Worse”

9-51-20090826101553

We first saw it over at Arjan’s blog and now it’s making the rounds all across the internets. It’s quite an attention-grabber. She looks like she’s mid-fight and still going for it. It also works with the title For Bitter Or Worse. The album should hold some great tunes.

Alphabeat return with magnificent single “The Spell”

This song could be the best song you hear in 2009. We had heard that our favorite Danish band Alphabeat was going to channel early vocal house from the 90s’, but we didn’t new they’d sift through the bad and get to the good. It sounds like a laid-back version of Blackbox or Technotronic. The song is so lush with optimism it should have been a summer single. Kudos to them for defying the trends and trying to make good old fun pop. We can’t wait for the The Spell.

Sugababes name album Sweet 7

1

Sugababes092

The muchly-anticipated album of one of the greatest non-disbanded girl bands has been given a name. Sweet 7 is the 7th Sugababes album. It’s really not that original. Catfights & Spotlights is better. They should have waited for their 17th album for that. Something tells me this will be the last full-length album from them. “Get Sexy” is too great for “common” people, so it won’t perform well even if it’s better than most of the pop songs of this year. Let’s just wait and see there could be a knock-em-down single. But, so far, it’s make-or-break.

Katherine McPhee reveals cover for Unbroken

album cover

American Idol loser and all-around nice person Katherine McPhee is back with her second album. We loved the two singles off of the first one so we expect more. Unbroken is set to bring a more grown-up McPhee sound with a new hair-do that makes her look less like Rachel Ray. The video’s in the works and the direction sounds promising.

“Forever Is Over” keeps The Saturdays going…

saturdaysforeverisover

To keep up with the great reception the Saturdays received for their first album, the UK band is not wasting any time on releasing a follow-up. High of the heels of their previous single “Work,” the group has already released the a new single from their yet-untitled sophomore album. It is not a far stretch for them, but it is definitely a new sound. It sounds a bit like “When Love Takes Over” by David Guetta featuring Kelly Rowland, I must say.

Alphabeat announce new album titled “The Spell”

Our favorite Danes (second only to Tina Dico) have already completed a new album that was rumored to be called This Is Still Alphabeat, but have announced that it will actually be The Spell, which is a song that will be on the album. The Spell is going to be out in October in an already crammed year. Songs that will be included are “Heart Failure,” “DJ,” “Chess” and the title track. The band say that they are not staying with the sound they came popular for but will take a different route in inspiration of 90s’ early house bands like Blackbox and Snap!, which is super appealing. We love both bands.
