This is the make-or-break single from Dev’s debut album which she called The Night The Sun Came Up. If there’s any pop justice out there this would be a hit this summer, it has all the components and people remember her vocals from last summer’s hit “Like A G6.”

First Listen: “Head First” by Nikka Costa

Nikka Costa is one of the artists that has never gotten what she deserved. Her blend of soul and pop is incomparable and she is one of the only voices out there giving soul props in this day and age. At any rate, we weren’t too happy with her German-only single “Ching Ching Ching,” but this new song “Head First” is exactly what the doctors ordered. We are glad that this sound still carries on on her album Pro*Whoa!

Rochelle started singing as child trying to emulate what she saw from 90′s RNB acts such as Aaliyah, Kelis, Nicole Wray, TLC, 702 and Missy Elliot. Pursing this dream as a teenager landed her a by chance meeting with Toronto Producer “D10″ who happens to be the same producer that produced Drake out of Toronto. D10 offered Rochelle the chance to sing backup for another rising star at the time Keisha Chante. That experience made Rochelle realize that she could really do the same thing and started making the transition from backup to lead.

This could be one of the greatest news pieces of the year. Mariah Carey is said to have already started working on her new album following her delivery of twins – Monroe and Moroccan. The album is said to be reflective of the journey she has been through and, according to her husband Nick Cannon, it’s set to drop sometime this year. Good news.

We really don’t do much gossip, but it is very interesting that Mariah Carey, who recently had twins (one girl, one boy) called her son Moroccan. We knew she had a Moroccan room in her lavish NYC apartment, but we didn’t know she loved us Arabs that much! And, of coure Monroe is named after Marilyn, whom she idolizes. Cute names.

Disconia is pretty direct. It wants you to dance and dance good. It’s a great compilation to get you up and going. The music in it is meant to invigorate, yet rejuvenate. A transitional record that looks on to optimism with all the colors of the world. It’s filled with all the grand pop singles, many remixed tracks and some hidden gems here and there. 20 tracks, no qualms, just angulations. It’s also dedicated to a very special person in my life.

Loft965.com picked you as an “Artist to look forward to in 2011.” How do you feel about that and what do you think this year holds for you?I’m super excited and flattered to be picked as one to watch! I’m excited for another year to be out in the world playing music and getting my album out there. There were so many surprises and twists last year and I hope that 2011 is the same.
2. We love “Stuck.” What will be your next single?Yes and I’m so glad. Its one of my favorites on the album, it’s a very personal tune. I shot the video for it the last week of January. It’s a Bonnie & Clyde-type piece featuring Michael Socha from “This is England” & BBC’s “Being Human”. We had a blast, he’s an ace guy and an ace actor.
3. Your Wikipedia biography says you lived with Lisa Marie Presley. Why and how was it?Her daughter, Riley, is one of my closest friends and I was having to move back to TN because of family reasons at one point while in Los Angeles. They were kind enough to let me stay with them. They’re like my surrogate family and very dear to me.
4. Your debut album, Wasted In Jackson, is already out. How would you describe it and who were you influences?I would describe it as a storybook journey of the last few years of my life, including moving to a new country, shit breakups and looking at life. It was influenced by a few different things, I wanted it to be a very honest, soulful record, so I made it a point to do the writing as upfront and truthful as possible. Musically i wanted it go on a journey as well having some rock moments, country moments, even true to term singer/songwriter moments. I think Eg White (producer) and I did that as best possible.

Yes, it’s about time for some exposure in the urban music world. Allegedly, this is his official statement: “I pride myself in being an honest, God Fearing, respectful man. I have kept my personal life private and wanted to keep it that way. Unfortunately, other’s are interested in profiting from my anguish; so before they can do that, i will clarify things. Bring Janet Jackson to Dubai!
Some good folks over here are starting a campaign to bring Miss Janet Jackson to Dubai. If this happens, it will be the first time Janet Jackson comes to Dubai. Considering that her new boyfriend is from Qatar and she hasn’t treaded here, it’s not a far stretch as it is listed in the drop-down menu of her site. It would be great if she did come here as this could be her last tour and, as you might know, we are huge Damita Jo fans since our childhoods and would love to see her and review her. We have seen her live before on the Velvet Rope Tour and it was just stellar.
