Don’t Quote Me, Vol. 504

1

“And when you’re running for cover
And you feel the sky falling down upon you
And when it feels like forever
Since you’ve seen the face of someone who loves you

Then one is all that you need
All that you need to keep you warm
Is all that you need
All that you need to move you on
It’s all that you need
All you need is

One”

- Tina Dico on “One”

Official cover art of Britney Spears’ “Till The World Ends”

1

This is more like it and it the font works better with this motif. Something tells me that “Till The World Ends” is not as big of a dance song as “Hold It Against Me” because of its love song lyrics. But, all is good from the camp of Britney and we are willing to give it a clean-slate unabashed pop-love listen.

Sexy Track: “Safari Disco Club” by Yelle

3

This one’s for the feet. it’s make you want a wooden dancefloor to forget all your worries. Even though we could not understand the lyrics in French, the beat is so infectious that it will get you and get you going. The track is a robust call to the disco with magnificent arrangement and uppity vocals. Truly one of the best dance songs of 2011, as of now.

Lofty Prediction: Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” video will make you like the song

1

Okay, so the first single of Lady Gaga’s highly-hyped third album is out and many people are unhappy with it. Many say that is sounds too close to “Express Yourself” by Madonna and we can see the resemblance in chord progression, but that’s not enough to say she copied it. Nonetheless, Gaga said before that she is heading to a rockier route and this is a pretty heavy song. The lyrics are lackluster, but it could (and probably will) grow by the time it hits radio hard. Cover versions are already flowing in. But, the true catch in Gaga’s music is the visual accompaniment and that has yet to surface, much like the fact that Britney Spears‘ “Hold It Against Me” will go better with a video. So, hold on to your Gaga complaints and wait for the music video, which will probably titillate or even invigorate.

Sexy Track: “He Won’t Go” by Adele

2

There’s nothing new here. The instrumentation and the melody hardly break any ground, but the true gem-quality in this song comes for its vocals and lyrics. Adele‘s lovelorn words of tumult in a relationship turns this song into a slice of audible beauty rarely found in an era that doesn’t love the ballad anymore. Yes, the lyrics are heartbreaking and Adele sounds sullen throughout, but as with all of her songs, this one to keep for down-trodden times.

Britney Spears’ new single is titled “Hey Over There”

6

According to ONTD and a couple other sources, Britney Spears‘ first single off of her highly anticipated album is called “Hey Over There.” There is also another track called “Hold It Against Me.” That is alleged. The song sounds like a scream of sorts and we hope it’s up to par with “3,” because that track rocked us to our bone. This is exciting news for 2011. We are looking forward to more pop from the pop princess herself.

Don’t Quote Me, Vol. 473

2

“And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it’s done
I hope you don’t mind
I hope you don’t mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you’re in the world”

- Elton John on “Your Song”

Again: Music For Winter: Laxicover II

6

Due to popular demand, Laxicover has gotten a sequel. Yes, the most downloaded compilation was supposed to be one-off but it’s back for another run. Are you ready for some smooth laying beats? Perhaps a chunk of bossa nova? Well, Laxicover II is probably the only compilation that you will enjoy thoroughly and know all the lyrics to at the same time. We went for an even softer sound this time and we can’t stop listening to it. Also, we incorporated more hairy legs for you this time. Enjoy it as you did the last one and, as always, feedback (or a thank you) is great.

Video Premiere: “The Comet Song” by Bjork

2

Bjork‘s new album might not be anywhere to be heard, but she is working hard with the movie revival of the famous Finnish cartoon The Moomins. This is the video and song off of the soundtrack of the movie we are dying to see. If you grew up in the 90s’ you’ll know what we are talking about.

Don’t Quote Me, Vol. 406

“And you ask for forgiveness
You’re asking too much
I have sheltered my heart in a place you can’t touch
I don’t believe when you tell me your love is real
Because you don’t know much about heaven boy
If you have to hurt to feel”

- Sarah McLachlan on “Forgiveness

The big news is Christina Aguilera’s “Not Myself Tonight” has lyrics!

1

The new ploy by Christina Aguilera’s camp is too much. It seems Christina Aguilera is taking herself way too seriously. She had announcement of big new to tell us that her new song has lyrics. Surprise. What would be? An instrumental track without melisma. Never! Anyway, the only good thing about this that the lyrics are of a slutty fugue. We like and hope the bit is dirrty. Click below to read the lyrics.

Legendary: “All Good Things (Come To An End)” by Nelly Furtado

Flames to dust. This track was one of the only salvageable songs from Nelly Furtado’s over-produced and overappreciated Loose. It was a less bankable song that was reminiscent of Furtado’s early rawer efforts from Whoa Nelly! and Folklore.
