Now that discrimination is on the books…

FISHScrewHomos5

It’s hard to assess what is to become of the Calfornian courts decision to uphold the right for many to marry. On one side they shut up and calmed down the raging conservatives for a hot minute and that is always good for politics since they are the big funders of against civil rights movements. On the other hand, those judges probably washed away a bit of their guilt with the decision to take out 18,000 couples out of limbo and actually giving them the right to stay in a marriage. So, even if they think they achieved something with this, they left without taking a standpoint. What is to make of a couple of judges who OK some marriages and not others. They definitely are not right-wing or left-wing. They are just feeding their own prejudice without wanting to look inhumane. This will be looked on as a bump in the road and a misstep from the courts who came to this wishy-washy conclusion. In any case, their credibility lost more tract with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s public insistence that marriage equality will inevitably happen in California. They’re just stretching hate and defacing California’s image as a progressive state especially after Iowa just got it. Proposition 8 might be here, but it’s not here to stay.

Cheney’s daughter defends torture

1

No that the last government is on a permanent vacation, their kin and friends are up in arms trying to condone what the last incumbent US government did. In all reality, here is Liz Cheney, who looks like an intellegent woman, trying to give excuses to the suffocation of people under water. Waterboarding, to her, is not considered torture. I wonder what she does for fun.

Iowa legalizes same-sex marriage

4

6a00d8341c730253ef01156ed5c92d970c-800wiWhat a great day for the civil rights movements when a square state like Iowa legalizes gay marriage with a unanimous Supreme Court decision. Pioneering the way for the midwest and attaining this human right before states like New York and Maine. Of course it’s mainly corn crops there, but still it’s a state that will light up blue and free on charts. Hopefully, this will be a trend that runs across the united states although i think it should be a federal decision. In any case, today’s for Iowa.

Mad props to Iceland…

2469332728_4101920cfdI couldn’t have said it better. From TruthDig.com:

“Hats off to the Scandinavians, who continue to make the world’s progressives green with envy. Even as Iceland faces economic catastrophe, the volcanic island nation has made history by naming the world’s first (for the most part) openly gay national leader. Johanna Sigurdardottir will become prime minister. (The New York Daily News says Norway briefly had an openly gay man as prime minister.)

The family-values types can just relax. Sigurdardottir has been married to her female companion for seven years.”

Is Iceland Scandinavia, though?

Ladyhawke gets fruity

I don’t get why her music is an apple, if she is allergic.

Introducing… Erin McCarley

000-erin_mccarley-love_save_the_empty-2009-frontLove, Save The Empty is Erin McCarley’s debut album and it is a mixture of pompous folk and moody rock. It is like a cross between Sheryl Crow, KT Tunstall and Chantal Kreviazuk. My current favorites are “Blue Suitcase” and “Sticky Sweet.” I watched he perform live on David Letterman and she was great. I am looking forward to listening more.

2008 in pop form…

This wrap-up video is very American of course, but I like the way it is out together. I only liked 2 songs of the set, but the mash-up is nicely done

New poster for equality…

2

defendequality_shepardfaire_5The same graphic artist that made this famous Obama poster, which we featured during election time, has now lent a helping hand to the struggle for equality. I like it, it’s nicely done. The fist in the sky is not a new concept, but it’s still all kinds of vibrant.

WeHo is going crazy. I expected more celebrity action, to tell you the truth. Where’s Madge? That git sucked everything out of the community and gave nothing back.

Click to watch Whoopie Goldberg, Judy Gold and Kate Clinton after the jump.

It’s Official: Madonna has divorced…

1

The reps have confirmed it and I have to say I am glad. I mean he was dead weight. He is responsible for some of the worst bits in her career: Music, Hard Candy. She left her brother Christopher for him. She changed totally and it looked like she was OK with living a normal life all married and settles. You’re Madonna, you’re the beacon of pop change. You’re not meant for menial things like marriage and family and societal standards. You are supposed to carry humanity higher. OK, I am just going on now.
