1. Greetings From Kuwait! Loft965.com picked your song “Game Over” as a “Sexy Track” of the year! How do you feel about that and what do you think the rest of the year holds for you?

I think I’m quite happy with that, it is a little bit sexy… thank you Loft965.com! The rest of the year will involve a lot of music, basically. I have my mixtape ‘Those Who Wait’ going onto iTunes with some extra songs and videos and I’m in the process of finishing off my album which I’m really excited about. That will be released later this year, so I have high hopes for that. Music, videos, touring, travelling.

2. Right now, we can’t get enough of “Alone Together.” How is it working with Marsha Ambrosius?

Marsha is such a beautiful person, she’s so talented and real, she was a pleasure to work with. And I really enjoyed writing ‘Alone Together’ with her, it felt organic and the ideas we each had fitted really nicely together. It’s one of my favourites on the mixtape for sure.

3. When will your full-length album drop and what will it be called?

It will be later this year, I’m finishing it as we speak. And the title is still a secret!

4. Your music is very soulful, who are your major influences growing up?

My main influence would have to be Prince, he’s my all time favourite. But I listen to a lot of Chaka Khan, Joni Mitchell, Jill Scott, Maxwell, George Michael, Sade, Imogen Heap too… so they all combine with me when it comes to my music.

5. We love quotes, what is your favorite quote or motto?

I’m actually not sure… I don’t have a definitive favourite quote if I’m honest. I like ‘It could always be worse…’ – a simple one, but something I find myself saying a lot, whenever I’m not 100% happy with something.

Sexy Track: “Game Over” by Daley

1

Leave it to the UK to take soul elements that have always existed since the inception of the genre and recreate them into beautiful 21st century ditties without overproduction or glitz. Daley is the newest soul child on the scene. His voice is grandiose, his beats are fluttering and the overall composition is just mesmerizing. This is red-wine-in-the-sheets material although the lyrics are more of an ultimatum. It takes the basic essence of neosoul and merges it with a Britsoul tint. We will be hearing much more from Daley.

Must-Watch: Video Premiere: “Late Nights, Early Mornings” by Marsha Ambrosius

1

When it comes to neosoul, we always knew that one-half of Floetry has got it. When it comes to video you making, we didn’t know she had all these ideas in her. Following her previous video for “Far Away,” which tackled anti-bulling and homophobia, her second single deals with the issue of safe sex and seroconversion. Lovely idea, Ms. Marsha Ambrosius, keep them coming.

Melanie C debuts new song “Stupid Game” live!

2

Many people do not know this, but Melanie C is one of the greatest pop songwriters of our generation. Those who have given her solo career a chance have remained entangled on this soon-to-be five-album oeuvre. This is a new song from the album and its up to par.

The Floacist releases debut album!

1

The other half of Floetry is trying to get a piece of the pie. Since Marsha Ambrosius is all over the place now, the rapper or “floacist” is trying to make it to. This is the cover to her new release. We are not that excited for it as we are more into vocalists than spoken word/ rap. Still, it’s worth a mention.

Video Premiere: “Gone & Never Coming Back” by Melanie Fiona

1

Is anyone as excited as us about the return of Melanie Fiona. This is the first single off of her sophomore album. It’s a love ballad in a music era that loathes ballads, commercially speaking. Well, let’s hope for the best. Something tells us that she has a very strong second single.

Marsha Ambrosius to release album in 2011!

1

One half of once critically acclaimed neo-soul duo Floetry, Marsha Ambrosius, is ready to unleash her solo efforts that she has been working on for a while. We always liked her more than the floacist, who was more preach less melody. Anyway. the new album is called Late Nights & Early Mornings and some tracks have already been leaked on the internet including “Far Away.” The album is set to drop in January of next year.
