Mariah Carey delays Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel

Imperfect

The news is in and it seems that Mariah Carey is delaying her album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel to September 15th. This is sad news to all the lambs in the world. Not only will the Mariah album be delayed 3 weeks but it will also miss the Grammy cut-off date. Furthermore, that week she will be up against Jay-Z, Kid Cudi and Madonna’s Celebration, which, in reality, is not hard to beat. Jay-Z might be tough. Mariah is apparently still in the studio trying to finish off the album as she twitters about it, but, something tells me that the recent dip of “Obsessed” on the charts from #11 to #20 is the reason. She might want to release two singles in time for the album in order to build up the hype for it. At any rate, “It’s Like That” did really poorly on the charts but The Emancipation Of Mimi still managed to be the best selling album of 2005.

It’s amazing what a little tweet can do. Mariah Carey just announced, to many people’s amazement, that the first single off of her upcoming album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Princess is called “Obsessed” and will be released this tuesday. This is how the tweet went:

“The 1st single from my new album “Memoirs of an imperfect angel” is called “Obsessed” and will be at radio next tuesday. I’m a lil’ excited!”

The album was slated for a late September release, but that was tentative and almost every Mariah album has been pushed back before. So, to have the single hit radio (and the blogosphere inevitably) this early was somewhat of a surprise. Who knows? Maybe she is trying to give Whitney Houston a break and not release the album at the same time or maybe she is just so happy with the product that it is ready for a release. Sudden releases are good because they make a bigger impact.
