We loved Melanie Fiona when she first came out. In fact, “Monday Morning” is one of our favorite tracks of this decade. But, her sophomore album The MF Life did not rock our boat. It was too MOR R&B as demonstrated by this lackluster ballad. If you are going to release a ballad, make sure its stellar because it won’t stick that easily. Continue reading
Melanie Fiona is a victim of the very painful sophomore slump. This is why we really didn’t give her last album, The MF Life, enough coverage. Yes, its not that great and this is a testament to it. If this song is a single for the album, then what do you expect the other tracks to be life. We hate to see here disappear along with all the Canadian R&B girls like Deborah Cox and Tamia, who could have made it but misstepped.
The machine behind Melanie Fiona’s second album is in full force. The album, The MF Life, is slated for a March 20th release.
We haven’t heard anything strong from the new album, but we are not dismaying it just yet. Her debut was packed with good songs, so we hope she hasn’t jumped the Ameriie way on this one. The second disc drops December 6th, 2011 and is called The MF Life.
