Video Premiere: “Ménage A Trois” by Austin Brown

Michael and Janet Jackson’s nephew Austin Brown, who is Rebbie’s son, is ready to unleash his solo career on us and it sounds so very good! It actually sounds like the early beats of the Jackson 5. We look forward to hearing more from him. Oh, and he’s easy on the eyes.

Exclusive: Nasser Loves Whitney

As you might have noticed if you follow us on Twitter and/or Facebook, we are totally devastated from the death of the legendary Whitney Houston. Not only because she made a great contribution to the world of music, but also because we are music aficionados and we care a lot about this kind of music as we believe it has, not only an artistic impact but also a cultural one all over the world. Whitney is one of the greatest forces of that change and the progress of pop – a genre we love. At any rate, we know that you are about done right now with hearing “I Will Always Love You” blasted all over the media – A cover song that is originally Dolly Parton’s. For Micheal Jackson it was “Billie Jean” and for Amy Winehouse it was “Rehab.” And, as you might expect from Loft965.com, we are not ones to stop at the big hits only. So, we decided to compile a playlist for all the songs and remixes in Whitney Houston’s career that might go forgotten right now just like we did for Michael Jackson. Here it is. We hope you enjoy it.

Video Premiere: “Giving You The Benefit” by Pebbles

The first batch of CD’s we ever bought consisted of Janet Jackson’s janet., Mariah Carey’s Music Box and Michael Jackson’s Dangerous from a store in Salmiya. The seller had a bunch of extra CD’s that weren’t selling and if you purchased two albums, you are allowed to grab one for free. So, naturally, we grabbed the one with the cover art that looked most diva-tastic from the bunch. Anyway, it turns out to be Pebbles before she went all crazy churchy on us. A good slice of 80-tinged pop!

Michael Jackson’s “Immortal” album has leaked!

2

Michael Jackson seems busy posthumously. This is yet another regurgitated album of sorts to sprinkle his estate with more cash. Anyway, it’s supposed to be a broadway-esque interpretation of his works. Click here to be forwarded to an blog not affiliated to ours to investigate the leak.

Rihanna announces new album title!

1

Rihanna is releasing albums so fast that sometimes its hard to distingiush which song came from which record off the top of our heads. The album is set to debut in November, the same day Michael Jackson’s Immortal and Mary J. Blige’s My Life II are slated to be released. But, something tells us that she will be topping the charts. Oh, and it’s called Talk That Talk.

Must-Watch: Video Premiere: “Late Nights, Early Mornings” by Marsha Ambrosius

1

When it comes to neosoul, we always knew that one-half of Floetry has got it. When it comes to video you making, we didn’t know she had all these ideas in her. Following her previous video for “Far Away,” which tackled anti-bulling and homophobia, her second single deals with the issue of safe sex and seroconversion. Lovely idea, Ms. Marsha Ambrosius, keep them coming.

Introducing… Jessica 6

2

Formed in 2008, Jessica 6 is a hypnotic Brooklyn-based trio that pushes the boundaries of nu-disco and R&B. “It all started when Nomi [Ruiz] brought over a kick-pattern and a song she’d written called ‘Fun Girl’,” recalls Jessica 6 bassist Andrew Raposo of the band’s conception. Ruiz (the band’s front woman), Raposo and Morgan Wiley, Jessica 6’s keys and synth master, originally met while performing with Hercules and Love Affair. “We were enjoying listening to each other’s music beyond Hercules. It was really just about having fun,” says Raposo who first met Wiley in college before joining the now defunct DFA produced hip-hop act Automato together. “Then Nomi came in with hundreds if not thousands of songs her laptop.”

Michael Jackson’s next single is from the “Thriller” era!

4

Allegedly, news is in that after the two fairly-recent and unpolished singles released from Michael Jackson’s posthumous album Michael (“Hold My Hand” and “Hollywood Tonight”), a track that is from the Thriller era will be the third single. The song is titled “Behind The Mask.” It was penned in 1979 and wasn’t allowed to be on his sixth album because of legal battles. Although, it has been covered by several artists, the MJ version is about to get its own release! Good news!

Video Premiere: “Hollywood Tonight” by Michael Jackson

5

The campaign for Michael Jackson’s album Michael is still going. This is the second single and, to tell you the truth, its a disgrace to his legacy. Out of everything he has released this is the worst bunch of strewn-together songs. They should have just left it at “This Is It.”

Beyonce to release new single as early as spring!

3

Allegedly, several sources today are saying that Beyonce is all ready to release a new single. Yes, there is some speculation about this. But, Producer Robert “Shea” Taylor has revealed that he has been working with Beyonce Knowles on her fourth studio album over the past several months, and says a new single is almost ready to go. Good times!

Exclusive: 5 Questions with Loft965.com: Clare Maguire

2

1. Loft965.com picked you as an “Artist to look forward to in 2011.” How do you feel about that and what do you think this year holds for you?

I am so honoured that Loft965.com have picked me as a ‘one to watch for 2011′. It’s a huge confidence boost to know that you believe in what I’m doing. This year will be filled with writing, designing shows, making videos and hopefully a headline tour of my own.

2. We love “Strangest Thing” and “Ain’t Nobody.” What will be your next single?

My next single is ‘The Last Dance’. It’s available in the U.S. on the 22nd of February on iTunes. The video is on youtube now, check it out, I love it!

3. Your single “Last Dance” was written after the death of Michael Jackson. Were you fan of the legendary King Of Pop and how did you feel upon hearing the news?

It was triggered by his death but there were also many things happening in my life at the time that influenced the song. I was a huge Michael Jackson fan and I was devastated when he passed. I thought it was distasteful when I read mean comments about him online, so my anger triggered the need to write the song, I went into the studio and that was it.

4. Your debut album, Light After Dark, is coming out on February 28th. How would you describe it and what sound can we expect?

I would describe it as ‘big, emotive, honest epic pop.’

5. We love quotes, what is your favorite quote or motto?

One of my favourite quotes is ‘imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.’ Marilyn Monroe.
