Kelis is back in the studio and, we are afraid to report, she is not on the right direction. Following Fleshtone, Kelis has gone back to the sound of her previous works with midtempo R&B. We’d much rather have a straight-up dance album from her. Anyway, click below for yourself to decide for yourself.

Again: Music for January: Ampitup
3We are three days late but everyone’s been super busy nursing a hangover and if you aren’t, get one now. At any rate, this is our first offering for the new decade. 2010 starts with a burst of eclectic dance beats and some hardcore pop debauchery. This is not one with a concept, but more of celebratory fan mix of get-up-and-go sounds to start off the year with a boom of sorts. We hope you like it and as always, feedback, wherever sent, is our fuel.
Exclusive: Music For November: Gyratorium
10This time we’ve opted for an air of celebration and dance to combat the winter gloom. My best friend’s on the cover, so you know it’s going to be a good one. Basically, the compilation is not here for depth or introspection. It’s here to make you dance and have fun.
Chair made of multi-colored straws
4Just how exquisite is this? It’s called the “clutch chair” and it is made entirely of straws. It contains about 10,000 straws in different colors. The designer behind it is Scott Jarvie. Here’s what he had to say about it: “Made from 10,000 drinking straws, the Clutch Chair is an exploratory research piece that passes comment on our disposable culture. The development process of this piece also informed that of the Clutch Light, both of which were developed from an observation of the structural characteristics of trees.”

East some shit…
I would definitely go there to check it out. The concept is new and fresh and the food looks succulent. I love how she says “Our lamp is poo-poo” and “Our mascot os poo-poo!” Modern Toilet has 12 branches, so it must be successful. Who would have thought of that concept. Only in the far east does something so animated get credibility. One the other side of the world everyone dying to achieve authenticity and if it doesn’t look authentic then the price is the reason people go (Yo! Sushi).
A new take on rock radio…
Designer Guus Oosterbaans has created a radio out of a rock. It looks great, even if its functionality is limited to two buttons. Here’s what he had to say about it: “My ROCK Radio. The number two in my cement-audio-series. It started of being a very nice rectangular brick shape. Then I found out that a thick layer of cement shields the radio from actually receiving radio waves. With my “Now it doesn’t work anyway” philosophy, I took a big hammer and created this Flintstones look, and the radio works!”
A new take on the ping pong table
2James Perse has taken up re-inventing the ping pong table. All colors get a revamping and everything turns fashionably black. No green board or rubbery-red pads. The new limited edition table tennis marvel is the re-invention of the Los Angels-based fashion designer and is available for a short period of time on his website.
Saudi designer shocks with extraordinary fashions
4In this region raw talents are a few and far in-between. However, sometimes a gem pops up. Mohammed Ashi has unleashed his new collection upon us, and frankly, we can’t get enough. After graduating from acclaimed fashion schools, working for world-renowned brands and winning Future TV’s Project Fashion, Ashi embarked on his own fashion journey. The product is his latest collection of pieces that are both original in form and cutting-edge in trend. The artist manages to carefully craft his works with modern flair, yet without forgetting the opulence of dress. His colors are muted, yet rich. Each piece is done with intricate care and are never duplicated.
This century’s Rubik’s Cube
You think you are the sharpest tool in the shed because you used to be able to fix a Rubik’s Cube back in the day when perms were unregulated and Rick Astley could pass off as hot? Well, get with the times. It’s called the Petaminx and it has 975 individual colored blocks as opposed to Ernő Rubik’s 26. Try solving this one.

My experience: Seriously, out of all the times I have stayed in New York City this has to be the best hotel I have been in. Although I have stayed in a myriad of modern hotels and some gaudy ones, but this takes the crown. Located in the hip Lower East Side, it is tucked away from the tourist bonanza in a gayborhood that is fast becoming New York’s trendiest with boutique shops popping up everywhere and a high ratio of young New York. The service in the hotel is opulent and the staff are ready to help. The mini-bar has more alcohol in it than Karen Walker’s home and the ground floor is always full with New York’s finest freaks. What else would you want?
