If to 2009 is the year of anything other than the death of the late and great Michael Jackson, it is the year of electro. All kinds. Ladyhawke, La Roux, Lady GaGa, Frankmusik, Noah, VV Brown, Little Boots, Lykke Li and many others. And they keep on coming and coming. This time around it’s the first-listen impressive Ellie Goulding who is making waves across MySpace and the electroclash blogosphere. We first heard of her a while back but she didn’t have enough tracks. But now with solid numbers like the remix-ready “Starry-Eyed” and the hard-to-overcome “Wish I Stayed” featuring “it” boy Frankmusik. The music is electronic but accessible. She fuses acoustic aspects with clash beats. Kind of like Madonna’s last good moment on American Life. The beats are loud and solid but the lyrics are opulent with emotion. Exactly what the iPod doctor prescribes.

The biggest pool in the world…
The San Alfonso del Mar Resort in Chile boasts the biggest pool in the world. It’s filled with seawater though. But, it’s still spectacular. It beat a pool in Morocco. It cost a billion to make and taked two million dollars a year to maintain. But, I guess the maintenance is worth it if you have a marvel like that.
