We wanted to post this video a two weeks ago, but we couldn’t find a compatible video format that would fit with WordPress.com. This is a new fabulous homo band with all kinds of debauchery that would make the Scissor Sisters look like pre-schoolers. The video’s fun and the song is loud but catchy.

Mariah Carey’s film “Tennessee” is out on DVD

Before Precious there was Tennessee, Mariah Carey’s other acclaimed acting performance. It didn’t get enough publicity, but it gave her the path to Precious, to be figurative. She not looking too special in this one either. The cornrows don’t fit her big head. Ok, I jest. She terrific. We haven’t seen the movie yet but you know once we do we will review the hell out of it.

Film Review: Precious (2009)

We’ve been waiting to see Precious (originally titled Push) for a while now. Not only is Mariah Carey in it but it got all these endorsements from Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry and awards. Also, the cast line-up is impressive including Lenny Kravitz, Sherri Shepherd and the ever-so-lovely Mo’Nique. So, it was a matter of getting the film. No convincing needed.

But, to tell you the truth. It wasn’t that big of a movie moment for us. At times, we thought the script was lacking. Precious’ character was the ultimate victim, but she sure has a lot of attitude. The plot seemed a little choppy at times, but not as drama-forcing as Tyler Perry movies. Her story needed to be told and it delivered a strong and depressing message across. The movie surprisingly sinister at times and lacked an uplift.

All-in-all, it wasn’t a bad movie to watch. But, it wasn’t the big epic of a flick of a movie everyone was rambling on about. We expected a The Color Purple opus and all we got is a cross between a Tyler Perry movie and an obscure foreign film. This is one of the only movies that can probably fit in arthouse cinema, African-American genre and psuedo chick flick. It’s great to have experienced it and Mo’Nique performance deserves an Oscar and a half.

Oh, and Mariah was ostentatiously impeccable.

Big, phat and proud Mo’Nique has shed some pounds. 40 to be exact. The diva that has created a brand name for herself with over-weight has gone and betrayed her base. But, in reality, Mo’Nique lost the pounds, which she debuted at the Hoodies, no for “an aesthetic issue” but because of health reasons.

Also, Mo’Nique plans to begin filming her show which will be broadcast on BET sometime in October. And there is an Oscar buzz around her performance in Precious. With the show and the movie, she is on top of her game right now.

22News is pouring in about Mariah Carey’s new projects and it’s mainly due to her love of Twitter. She is recently done a song for her critically-acclaimed movie “Precious” that is titled “100 Percent.” Moreover, she has confirmed a collaboration with Timbaland on her next album project tentatively titled MC3. I am sure that’s won’t be the title. Oh, also, Nick Cannon is stepping up to world-renowned douche Eminem for talking smack about his wife.

Leaving a band with relative success is risky business, especially when it is critically acclaimed.  This is exactly what Gwenno is doing. She split from the quirkfest that was the Pipettes to embark on a solo career in an increasingly dwindling music industry.
