Loft965 Exclusive: RuPaul unexpectedly releases remix album “Drag Race”

4

RuPaul is super busy promoting the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race and her book Workin’ It. But, that hasn’t stopped her from releasing an album this year. Unexpectedly and suddenly, with no promotion, RuPaul has released a remix CD titled Drag Race that remixes the best of her previous album Champion. The album is not listed on Amazon, 7digital, Wikipedia and there is not a single search engine that pops up with news about this. There was just a tiny little tweet that went by and left from RuPaul. So, this is the first announcement of it. Check it out on iTunes. Meanwhile, aren’t you just addicted to the show?

Send a Valentine’s e-card from RuPaul’s Drag Race

RuPaul’s Drag Race is airing its third episode tomorrow and in celebration of the much-dreaded but sometimes-appreciated St. Valentine’s Day they have dedicated an e-card section on their website if you want to send something to someone special with a little kick and a little saunter. Go over there and sashay away some cards to your loved ones. Also, this is a picture of Ru promoting her new book Workin’ It looking frail as ever. We hope all is ok with him.

RuPaul and contestants!

Some art has sprung up in support of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 2 just in time for the second episode Starrbootylicious. We are going to spoil it for you now and say that both Shangela and Nicole Page Brooks have been eliminated and we think they both deserved to stay longer. There are other bitches that needed to go and go fast, but we are not going to haterade. We just want to see Pandora Boxx and some of the other contestants climb up! Does anyone else think that Untucked is the bee’s knees or what?

We love Pandora Boxx

We just watched the first episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race season two and we have to admit that we think Pandora Boxx is the bee’s knees. We’ve grown up with Pandora and fell in love with drag culture through her, so we might be a little biased, but, she really showed great sportswomanship on the first episode and managed to wow Kathy Griffin with her ginger wig. We have high hopes for Pandora Boxx. Let’s hope she wins the Drag Race!

One of the best shows on TV, RuPaul’s Drag Race, debuts in its second season today on Logo. The hype is building up and we can’t help but find out who the winner is. They all look very catty and fun to be around. Let’s hope Logo puts the episode on once it’s finished airing in the US. Exciting!

We are mucho excited about the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, because, apart from Kathy Griffin’s My Life On The D-List, it’s the best show right now. Plus, a friend of ours, the one and only Pandora Boxx, is on the show! We love her to bits and we have our fingers crossed for her. The show starts this Monday and then it will be available via the Logo website.  We can’t wait!

The Yas Hotel in Abu Dhabi

1

In the world of architecture, everyone knows the UAE has everything big and mighty. Structures from a ski resort in the desert to the tallest building in the world. But, sometimes the important details are left out. For example, the entire city of Dubai does not have a single modern hotel. So, this hotel in Abu Dhabi comes as a break from the norm. It’s designed by New York-based company Asymptote. The hotel bridges the car racing track. It launched in November and is open now. Click here to book.

Premiere: Video: “Tranny Chaser” by RuPaul

She had just released the third single from her album Champion titled “Devil Made Me Do It.” But, now a week later we get this ghettofabulous version of “Tranny Chaser.” It’s not on of the best tracks on the album, but it packs some attitude. She’s probably releasing it to dually promote RuPaul’s Drag Race season two and the album.

Premiere: Video: “I’m The Shit (Picchiotti Clean Version)” by Bebe Zahara Benet

The winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race has finally released her first single and it’s filled with attitude. It’s called “I’m The Shit” and the video is diva-tastic, to say the least. We haven’t heard the original version of the song, so we can’t judge. But. it’s dance-able and will probably get a few great remixes.

Obama addresses the LGBT community…

On his side again. What a moving speech. No international news channel broadcast this (except for a tiny bit in BBC International). They should have really. This message of change should’ve gotten across to the world because it’s not just an American issue, it’s an international issue. When the world listen to one of the most loved public figures the world over say such things they might realize that this is a issue of concern and look around them. Hate, in any form, should never be accepted. One’s beliefs shouldn’t curtail another person’s road to happiness. Anyway, getting too preachy here. But, you get the point. Click below for the rest of the speech.

Janeane Garofalo talks about racism against Obama

Let’s face it. The extreme right wing is more likely to be racist than anyone else. It’s a generalization, but we will make it. There is a correlation between racism and irrational patriotism. Had they not care about his race, the birther movement would not have been this huge of a movement. This people trying to impeach Obama on the basis of some lineage idea they have in their heads, when they are the same people who voted for John McCain who, in fact, was born in Panama.

Documentary: Chris Rock’s “Good Hair”

3

This is one documentary that we are bracing to watch. “Good Hair” is a film that challenges the notion of the racial implications of what hair should look like. This has gone on for years on end during and after slavery. It’s a residue of racism that has managed to cling-on while skin color precepts have been at the forefront of racial tensions. Hair is a human feature that has not gotten the same treatment as skin color in a racial context. Now, it not only serves as a benchmark for how far we have gone, but also an indicator of how much more we have to work on to dispel racial myths.

Ongina, our favorite contestant from RuPaul’s Drag Race reality show, has just launched her own blog and it looks like it’s going to be a banger. Ongina dazzled everyone with her unique take on drag and her amazing sense of fashion. She was also the inspiration behind RuPaul’s highlight of a song “LadyBoy,” which The Supermodel Of The World should take into consideration as her third single from Champion and make a lush video starring Ongina herself. We are really excited to follow every post. Visit the blog here.
