Rihanna’s rushed new album for 2011 has leaked in full onto the internet! The album made it out before it’s release date and, as we hear, many sites are crashing for a download. Madonna’s eagerly-awaited new single “Give Me All Your Love” has made its way to the internet. The new single off of the new album has leaked in its demo version all over cyberspace. Although Madonna’s camp are unhappy about it they have not denied that fact that it is the single.

Tori Amos’s first winter offering, some might say Christmas album, has leaked. Midwinter Graces is a collection of some of Tori’s favorites in her own style. To stray away from the christianization of the album, we’ll call it a “seasonal” album. After all, Christmas has Pagan roots. The album contains a duet with Tori’s daughter and a bunch of obscure seasonal ditties. We are sure we will love.
Another talent to look out for this year from Sweden. Maia Hirasawa is half Japanese and half Swedish. This is from her second album GBG v. STHLHM.
David Byrne is set to work on a concept album about shoe-hungry wife of former Philippines president – Imelda Marcos. The album will have many female vocalists including the one and only Tori Amos. Others include Santogold, Roisin Murphy, Sharon Jones and Alice Russell. The effort will be titled Here Lies Love and it should be released by the end of the year. Exciting!
This is dedicated to… Finally, some new tracks from the album. She sounds good and it’s a return to balladry, which is what she does well. It’s sultry and smooth and it’s called “Heart Never Had A Hero” and it should be on Pulse.
Björk’s four CD-set commemorating the greatness of her most recent album, or whatever it is, is out now. It contains one live CD, one live DVD, one DVD of all the music videos from Volta and a remix CD. Voltaic is yet another on of those packages that don’t really offer anything new but the packaging is fabulous.
As of now, Erik Hassle is the artist to watch for 2009. His debut album, Hassle, brings many great elements together, including pop, rock, alternative, soul and synth. His visual is also not bad at all. The singles “Hurtful,” which was previuosly featured, and “Don’t Bring Flowers After I’m Dead” are sure-fire chart successes and other gems on the album include “Wanna Be Loved” and “Back To Bed.” The album’s slated for a release soon worldwide and it’s only available in Sweden now. Keep an eye out for Erik Hassle.
She’s back and she’s here to stay. I Feel Cream is said to bring about a more mainstream audience. I don’t know if that is a good thing when it comes to Peaches.
Melody Gardot has been on heavy rotation on my iPod for a couple of days now. I was first introduced to her when i read her compelling story and when I heard her music, I knew I was going to like her. Gardot was struck my a car while on her bicycle when she was only 19. the injury resulted in cognitive impairment. Her doctors suggested she take up music in order to repair the damages in her cognitive thinking as it has been scientifically proven that it has healing abilities. The result is her moody debut album Worrisome Heart, which boasted a great eponymous single. Now, Gardot has released a second album titled My One And Only Thrill, which this track comes from. The effort is a well-rounded and robust offering of contemporary jazz. It’s good from start to end.

This duo are couple of the best scenic folksters out there right now. The former Hollywood EP was just a teaser of what they could do and now this video of an old song suddenly surfaces. They’re trying to create a buzz before they release their sophomore album.
As much as I love R&B, I feel like sometimes it gets all muddled up in the hype and plateaus for a bit (jackswing? crunk?). It is best when soul and sultry. Shontelle’s horribly named debut Shontelligence seems like a promising reformist record with a hint of reggae. Now let’s hope all of these are: Ciara’s Fantasy Ride (highly unlikely), Lady Love by LeToya (maybe), Pulse by Toni Braxton (she “doesn’t have a single hip hop bone” in her body), Love, Tweet by Tweet (if she dumps Missy), Monica’s Still Standing (again, if she dumps Missy Elliott) and Whitney’s tentatively titled Undefeated.
Just in time for the release of their new album Yes, this surfaces reminding what a great and unsurpassed band these twosome are. They worked heavily with Xenomania (Girls Aloud and Sugababes) and Tchaikovsky for the track “All Over The World.” Excited may be an understatement, even though I am more of a single hag, when it comes to PSB.
Something Else is clearly an effort to reckon with. The album continues to impress. This was the first song to catch my hear. These days I am stuck on “Ms. Harmony.” Just plain sexy.
Shontelle has been around for a couple of weeks now with her album Shontelligence (No, you are eyes are not fooling you), but i was intrigued to check her out when she reached the top 10 in the UK charts because if an R&B song hits high in the UK, it must be good. The song “T-Shirt” is what she is famous for, this one is a lesser-known single, by the name of “Battle Cry.” Check this Bajan singer out.
Ladyhawke’s debut album was impressive sonically. It was an auditory journey that synced from start to finish, however, it was quiet low on single-material. That is why the best song on there is getting a rehashing. “Paris is Burning” is probably being re-introduced as a dance song to reach new audiences and radio stations. It was good to begin with, I wouldn’t touch it.
2009′s going to be Natalie Imbruglia’s comeback year. She is preparing her to release her fourth full-length album and her first since 2005′s Counting Down The Days. This song is supposed to be from those sessions. Imbruglia takes a turn from adult contemporary rock to throwback Motown sound that has popularized acts like Duffy and Sharleen Spiteri. No word yet on the release of the album or the title, but the news should surface soon.
Still not OK with the supposed homophobic remarks he had made, even though he says he was misquoted. But, I have to say I am a big fan and, personally, I think he is one of the queerest people I have seen in my life, and I have seen many queens. Anyway, this is his 23rd and I am sure it holds some gems as do all his releases. The cover is horrific, but he is not known for his covers (check out Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic). Lotusflow3r will probably be more big-band and less soul. But, that’s OK.
