Sia Furler deals in contradictions. She doesn’t like talking to people she doesn’t know but enjoys interviews with strangers on the phone. She despises fame and the way it changes lives but obsessively consumes vacuous American reality shows seemingly doing the same thing.
Lying in bed in her New York apartment, the Adelaide-born singer-songwriter is attempting to explain why, just as her 17-year career is nearing its peak, she is planning her retirement from public life.
“I’m getting a bit famous now,” Sia (like Beyonce or Madonna, it’s first name only, please) says softly, “and I’m very anxious.”
Song: “Be Good To Me”
Artist: SiA
Album: We Are Born
Yahoo! Music called it one of the top albums of the year and blogs everywhere are ranting and raving about it. We said it a while ago, SiA’s album We Are Born is the only album that we will pay money for. Why? Because she has consistently done great album and in recent interviews she threatened us with a songwriting hiatus for other artists, so we do all we could to help out. We bought it and although it didn’t come with album artwork (which we are disappointed about) we love every track on there. Lovely little album from the queen of organic pop.

SiA’s at it again! She has written songs for Christina Aguilera and Will Young, now that word is allegedly out that SiA is in the works to pen a ballad for none other than Britney Spears. Yes, she has gone that far! This is according to our friend-blog WotYouGot. Here’s what SiA has to say about songwriting: “People call me for the ballads. Apparently that’s where I’ve been pigeonholed. But it’s really interesting and really fun. It’s my favourite part of the job, writing. Especially with other people.” And we don’t get why, because if you have heard that tracks on her new album We Are Born, you would know that she is a bonafide uptempo songwriter, too.
One of the standout tracks on SiA’s perfect We Are Born sounds even better live. And the dress is fantabulous, too.
We love us some SiA. Yesterday we YouTubed all her interview videos because we think she has a wicked sense of humor and talks with a pop conscience. Anyway, this is a new one just in time for the leak of her monumentally great 4th full length album We Are Born.

Wait, what’s that song at the end. It sounds like sex.
SiA is not only releasing a whole new full-length album, We Are Born, this year. But, also a live album of her material, too. SiA is one of those artists that sounds better live than she does on record and this is always a great way to get that across. She’s a touring artist rather than a records artist. Of course, both are great mediums but a SiA live experience is one to watch and hear. The We Meaning You Tour included old favorites and new material. There are two versions of the CD – one recorded live in Copenhagen’s Vega and the other in London Roundhouse. Be sure to get one!
Ms. SiA has been hinting lately in interviews that she doesn’t do so well as a solo artist and might just consider songwriting for other artists like she did with Christina Aguilera’s records. She has also hinted at become a full-fledged self-proclaimed “dog lady.” She loves her dogs more than pop history and if the Christina Aguilera record does well she might just as well drop the whole thing and become and dog diva or a bitch bitch. Anyway, let’s hope it ain’t so because we love us some SiA!
SiA has been on the down lately. She seems less well put-together and more of a mess everyday. But, that doesn’t stop her from making some great beats. This interview is very quirky, but very honest, too. She’s releasing some premium beats and we love her for it.
This Madonna cover, which, dare we say, is better than the original, is going to end up on SiA Furler’s fourth album that was supposes to be her third album but her record label refused to release it because they classified the songstress as a “downtempo artist” following her success with “Breath Me,” which was featured on the grand finale of Six Feet Under. Well, the new album is full blown organic pop made to titillate but in a healthy way. We Are Born is probably going to top a lot of year-end charts. So, keep an eye out for its June 8th release along with another album SiA has been hard at work on – Christina Aguilera’s badly-singled Bionic.
All our love goes to SiA. Her new tracks are a breath of fresh pop air.
Yesterday it wasn’t available with a player that was compatible with wordpress, but now it’s on YouTube. If there is any pop justice in the world this would become big!
