Watch out for her! Laleh Pourkarim is an Iranian-Swedish singer-songwriter. She came to Sweden when she was 1 year old and went to school in Angered, Gothenburg. Before that she had lived in Azerbaijan and Minsk, Belarus. She personally produced and wrote her 2005 self-titled debut album, in which she sang in three different languages: English, Swedish and Persian. At the Swedish Grammis Awards for 2005, she received seven nominations and won three: Artist of the Year, Producer of the Year, and New Artist of the Year.
The following year her second album Prinsessor was released.

1Azerbaijan wins Eurovision Song Contest!
3“Azerbaijan have beaten the much-hyped Irish twins and 23 other finalists to secure their country’s first-ever win in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Nigar Jamal and Eldar Gasimov, who go by the name Ell/Nikki, won 220 points for their classic pop ballad with a catchy refrain, Running Scared, meaning next year’s songfest will be hosted in Baku.
Second place went to Italy and Sweden finished third.
“I’m the happiest man in the world right now,” Gasimov shouted to the crowd of 36,000 who packed the Fortuna Duesseldorf Arena to watch the show.
He was handed the trophy by Germany’s Lena Meyer-Landruth, who had sought to make history by defending her title for a second consecutive year in a row.”
Video Premiere: “Are You Leaving” by Erik Hassle
1We are very excited for new material from Sweden‘s best male export Erik Hassle. This is up to par with his previous recordings and not a bad say at all.

Rosie typically sang upper harmony parts in Play’s songs as the soprano of the group.
Whitney Houston will tour Europe soon!
1Whitney Houston is actually going full-on with I Look To You. She is embarking on a tour of Europe early 2010. The tour starts in April with an extensive tour in the UK. Then Whitney moves on to Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Belgium. Surely France dates will be added and, maybe, Italy and Spain. But, if it sells out additions are expected, as always. We hope she’s in top form even as most critics are saying that her voice is not the same. Sometimes she speaks instead of singing, don’t you think?
Little Dragon bring on Machine Dreams
The Swedish electronic band with a penchant for mood are back with a second album and they are ready to prove their presence as Sweden’s Husky Rescue. Little Dreams don’t stray too far away from their older music. Still, revisiting all kinds of sombre auras with a couple of upbeat songs that are never out of sonic context. But, a definite air of maturity appears of this record and they have earned it. The first single is “Fortune” and the album is set to be release at the end of this month.
Sweden’s got naked talent

Another talent to look out for this year from Sweden. Maia Hirasawa is half Japanese and half Swedish. This is from her second album GBG v. STHLHM.
Video: “Release Me” by Agnes
1Nothing better to start of the month of a great slice of scandipop. Agnes is here to stay and this is her second single from the aptly titled Dance Love Pop.

Nina Persson is taking yet another break to work on her solo project A Camp. Colonia is her second effort without the Cardigans. The debut single is already making the rounds and the album should drop on the 28th of this month. Apparently, it is inspired by “girl-pop from the 60′s, 80′s punk and David Bowie,” That sounds like Sharleen Spiteri’s Melody press release statement.
How to play with pee and poo…

Haven’t you always thought that human waste had a playful aspect about it. Are a fan of the (proverbial) golden shower? Well, count on the Swedish to bring you Pee & Poo. The latest in stuffed toys. One resembles #1 and the other resembles #2. They are cut and cuddly. You can sleep right next to them with a smile, just like you did when you where a baby.
