1Lady Gaga’s collaboration with Beyonce, “Telephone,” has gotten the cut. First because 9 minute plus video was too long for airing. Second, MTV has allegedly banned the video because it was too suggestive. This is the same channel that permits homophobic and sexist videos to air. But a little female empowerment in pop is not OK. It’s funny how MTV thinks it still has a clout in what shapes the pop world. At any rate, this is the shorter version.

Must be a bad day at the Madonna camp. Madge has lost her only Grammy nomination for music to Lady GaGa. “Celebration” was not good enough for the award. What’s more important is, as USA Today puts it: “By contrast, Madonna, whose Celebration lost to Gaga in dance recording, did not win her first non-video Grammy until 1998, 15 years after her debut album.”
Showtime and Orbit officially merge tonight
2Tonight is the night when the two network giants in the Middle East merge. Yes, February 1st marks this coming of two packages. You will have to search or scan your channels again for the new now-satellite channel to surface on your list. We are not really big TV heads, actually we don’t watch TV at all) but we stumbled upon this piece of news while looking for a place that would air the Grammy Awards. Apparently this big scale merger couldn’t bring us music’s biggest night! At any rate, tell me if there’s anything worth watching.
