Kathy Griffin visits The View, squabbles with Elizabeth Hasselbeck

16 06 2010

The bitch is back. Elizabeth Hasselbeck is a right Republican. She disregards people’s opinions if they don’t suit her, yawns when someone makes a point and refuses to discuss the matter. Here we see the amazingly grandiose Kathy Griffin battle it out with that twit.

New video of Black Eyed Peas’ “Rock That Body”

14 02 2010

We thought the next single was “Imma Be,” but it looks like the video is being made for “Rock That Body” and Fergie has been replaced by Sarah Palin. It could be a double A-side, or the record company has decided not to make a video for “Imma Be” since it’s already in the top five without the extra spending. At any rate, what’s a single anymore?

Margaret Cho visits The View, talks about G spot

13 12 2009

Margaret Cho has a couple of projects up her sleeve. She just released her 5th stand-up comedy DVD titled Beautiful and she also has a new TV show titled Drop Dead Diva coming out soon. She doing a lot of work with self-image and female objectification and we are glad she is embarking on something with a message, not that what she was doing previously wasn’t “with a message” but this time it’s more directed at a specific subject. She also has a comedy music album that will feature her parents. We can’t wait to watch both.

Premiere: Video: “H.A.T.E.U.” by Mariah Carey

9 12 2009

This is mariah’s third single and we would not have chosen it to be one, but any sexy video from Mariah rolling around on a beach is a treat and a half. The video is short and it cuts out the fun licks in the song, but it must be the last one from the non-remix album, or maybe there’s some room for “Angels Cry,” which she named the tour after. The video is directed by Brett Ratner and it’s really not that spectacular. But, we’ll take it. All you need is a wind machine!

Must-Watch: Mariah Carey speaks of Rihanna, motherhood and spousal abuse

5 11 2009

Mariah is promoting a movie and an album, so it’s time to dish some dirt. She speaks of Rihanna and sympathizes with her. She decided to keep her physical abuse issues to herself and not discuss them on Larry King Live even when they are highlighted in her song “Side Effects.” She also talks about the word “Diva,” the undying question of her pregnancy and new projects.

Review: Michael Jackson’s “This Is It”

3 11 2009

mjloft

As a person that personally was going to attend a This Is It concert date, this comes as a bittersweet documentary. The whole film is heavy on clips of him rehearsing that were intended for his “personal collection,” but would be great tack-ons as bonus features on a concert DVD. It goes through most of the big hits (surprisingly without a single one from Off The Wall) and gives you an inside look on Michael Jackson’s newest ground-breaking tour that never was.

It shows you how far into the planning the crew has gone. There were full dress rehearsals, amazing concert props, pyrotechnics and a full band. it is almost but without the enthusiasm and the crowd. Even the props that haven’t been finished yet were made into special effects to portray the intensity of what was to be Michael Jackson last tour.

Even as the viewer is shown the full course of the set list and stage antics, there was a frail yet adamant Jackson on the screen. Also, you can see what can of sordid atmosphere MJ was living in filled with Yes-men and money-pinchers.

As always, the music is the focal point and Michael never misses his mark. He did the songs that everyone wants to hear from “Billie Jean,” to “Black & White” and we got treated to a great version of “Human Nature.” Also, newcomer Orianthi was featured heavily in the movie.

The documentary, however, did not do anything much than showing the world what was to become of his residency in London’s O2. Side interviews served as explanations to the concert. It was basically everything but the concert.

It would have been nice if family members were involved, and some history was thrown into the mix. Even the ending had no mention of Michael’s death, which should have been included to add to a more dramatic ending. The film closed off with Michael latest and worst single “This Is It,” which probably would not have seen the light of day as this version had Michael been alive and well.

At any rate, right now, anything from Michael Jackson is welcome. Let’s just hope that there are some recordings stashed away that will receive the right producers to release to the world as we surely haven’t had enough of the one and only King.

Mariah Carey visits The View

3 10 2009

Mariah looked and sounded as graceful as ever on The View with Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri. The latter is really trying to sell Nick Cannon as an entrepreneur. Why can’t “cute” be a good enough reason. To tell you the truth, we don’t want to hear about the marriage anymore and we want some more music talk. She needs to go make a David Morales remix if she wants to beat Paramore on the charts. Click below to see yet another performance of “I Want To Know What Love Is.”

Britney Spears reveals box design and cover of the Singles Collection

3 10 2009

125451987116585The singles collection will contain just that – the entire singles collection in their original artwork in sleeves. Every single single Britney has released will be in that box. A smart move considering that this offering is about the packaging more than the content. So, there won’t be illegal downloading because the tracks are already available, the real draw in the package.

Robbie Williams recently did that and it went over well. But, he has quiet an impressive b-side catalogue so that could be a factor in fans purchasing. But, Britney’s fans will undoubtedly dish out the amount for such a ordeal. Good job!

Premiere: Video: “Million Dollar Bill” by Whitney Houston

17 09 2009

It’s finally here. The video to “Million Dollar Bill” by Whitney Houston from her highly-touted album I Look To You. The video is nice and does her well. As nice as videos get for big-time artists in the download age. She’s back.

Mariah Carey performs new songs in Vegas show

15 09 2009

Saying that we are excited about Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel is an understatement. So we will spare you the hoopla and just go into a mini-review of the songs. “Up Out My Face” is in keeping with her love of island beats and Jamaican twang. It’s cute. “Angels Cry” sounds like it’s a fast grower and just a great overall song, to say the least. Click below to watch both videos.

Britney Spears sells herself on facebook

13 08 2009

picture-170

With the recession in full affect and CD sales on a fast plummet, stars have taken to other mediums to market themselves and make a little money on the way. Britney Spears has taken a new route: selling little icons of hers on Facebook gifts. One is free and 5 are not. That way, all her fans can give her 5 dollars each. That’s some mad money, if you ask me. Not to mention the double or triple buys from friends. It’s an interesting way to market an artist while making money. Still, one can just cut and paste the image really.

Introducing… Diane Birch

4 06 2009

00-diane_birch-bible_belt-2009

The UK is not the only country to jump on the motown throw-back bandwagon. The US is catching up. Diane Birch is a singer in that vein. All tracks on the album have the scratch and whimper of a soul vinyl record. The kind one listens to from beginning to end. But, considering that this is a US artist, an element of twang and, dare I say, country exists throughout the album. Bible Belt has some solid old skool tunes like “Choo Choo” and the epic “Ariel,” which brings back Elton John during his prime. The whole album is filled with scrumptious tracks from the smooth “Nothing But A Miracle,” where show showcases her poignant voice to the haunting closer “Magic View.” Diane Birch is definitely an artist to look out for. I’ll keep you posted.
