Everyone is wondering why Chris Brown was arrested. There is a lot of talk about the “unidentified female” that was violently assaulted. But this was the scenario: Both artists are slated to appear at the 51st Grammy Awards. They both attend the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party where Whitney Houston was set to make her come back performance (this picture above was taken at the entrance of that party). Then they leave together in their limo, where it supposedly happened. Some blogs report Rihanna was seen bruised. If we do the deducting, who would be in the limo other than Rihanna? Why would he beat up a random woman? If it wasn’t Rihanna, why didn’t she show up at the Grammy’s where she was set to perform with T.I.? Surely, if she wanted to dodge questions, she can skip the red carpet and just perform. This is way too cryptic. Not really, but I never liked Chris Brown and, if he did that, I sure as hell will erase him from my memory.

Check out how mad Jay-Z is with Chris Brown.
The situation is dire in the north of Sri Lanka. People who are in “Safe Zones” are being shelled and there is minimum coverage on it. The the death toll is rising and the YouTube videos are getting more and more graphic. Read this and this for a clearer view of the on-going issue. Who should be blamed for this? The Tamil Tigers or the Sri Lankan army?
I love her.
I mean, seriously? Who buys the Globe anymore? That rag is claiming that Michelle is getting over protective (hence the picture choice) and wants Oprah out of the picture. Not only is it yellow journalism but it’s old school pitting-women-against-each other fodder. I think Stedman’s hotter than Obama anyway. I am more amused about “the fact” that Camilla likes the koochie and Paula has white snot.
I don’t know if I agree with this, but I see the intention behind it. They are trying to make feminism look approachable and not intimidating. I never thought that, historically, it was ever unapproachable. I think people from the other camp made it look like it is.
According to this article, some beardist MP has decided to unleash a tirade of hate on women who want to serve the country as policewomen. The same women who have waited to take that post for years on end, but haven’t been able because of male-supremacist oppression of some figureheads. He opted for them to abide my Islamic law, disregarding the Constitution. I don’t know what that entails? Should policewomen “lower their gaze” when the catch a criminal? Should policewomen be forced to veil themselves even if they are not in their real lives? Should we assume that everyone in this country is of a certain religious belief?
The commercials are still on. I complained.
After staying up last night to watch the debates, I found that there was nothing fresh and both were cordial, I wanted a little Jerry Springer action. I still think that McCain is Republican lite, but what angers me, and has for a while, is his choice for VP. It’s exactly the Republican technique, to undermine credibility for political gain. It’s amazing that the most anti-women candidate running for a position in the Oval Office is a woman herself. I can only imagine how the US would change if she dragged her hate into office. When I was opposed to Bush back in 1999, I was the only one, at least among my Kuwaiti peers. Everyone championed his father as the good-doing liberator of Kuwait. Completely disregarding this:
“On Wednesday July 25, 1990, the U.S. Ambassador in Iraq, April Glaspie, asked the Iraqi high command to explain the military preparations in progress, including the massing of Iraqi troops near the border. The American ambassador declared to her Iraqi interlocutor that Washington, “inspired by the friendship and not by confrontation, does not have an opinion” on the disagreement which opposes Kuwait to Iraq, stating “we have no opinion on the Arab-Arab conflicts”. She also let Saddam Hussein know that the U.S. did not intend “to start an economic war against Iraq”. These statements may have misled Saddam into believing he had received a diplomatic green light from the United States to invade Kuwait (New York Times, September 23, 1990).”
When he took the second election people in Kuwait were divided, but the majority still backed Bush. Mostly because of security reasons. After all, we are stuck in a very unique corner for policy-making. We are in between “The Big Three” (Iraq, Iran and Saudi).
Now, the predominant majority are against Bush, so much so that there is little support for McCain. So, I can gloat in my I-told-you-so’s but it is pointless. Now I am hoping the Palin never makes it. Even though I was Hillary’s biggest fan, I would like to see Obama win. Just because he is the closest chance the world has to a liberal direction and because I am sure Palin thinks that Oscar de la Renta is the Spanish version of the Academy Awards.
The new Zain commercials for their mobile back-up are horrible and bigoted. This misogyny has got to stop. So much so, that I am considering a boycott. In this series we see an elderly women portrayed as a tool, her ailments (a result of old age) seen as a reason for replacement and discrimination.
The woman in the videos is objectified and made to be the equivalent of a mobile phone. Zain is using sexism for comedy.
Zain’s prejudiced marketing team apparently did not do a demographic study or deem these commercials too discriminatory to be aired.
Shame on Zain. Call 107 and ask to leave a recorded complaint.
So, I got my hands on the Laki pamphlet. I know NBK is trying to contend with KFH with its new heinous segregationist marketing ploy, but I feel there could have been another approach. Some absurdities: valet parking deals, trips to fashion weeks, pampering services and a beauty loan. I don’t know what the latter is, but I am assuming it has to do with plastic surgery. And if you get the “Titanium” card (which is purple), you get to “celebrate womanhood everyday.” Lovely. Stereotyping never looked so glamorous.
