We are excited for Brandy’s new album! Two Eleven follows Norwood’s least commercially successful album, Human (2008), which failed to enter the top-ten of the US Billboard 200. Its foundations can be traced back to 2009, a time when Norwood had been working on a second album with Epic Records, involving contribution from Ne-Yo and Stargate as well as The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. However, after singer-songwriter Amanda Ghost was appointed the new president of the label in February 2009, Epic terminated Norwood’s recording contract with the company. As some of the material recorded under Sony Music was left with the label and re-recorded by other artists, her departure from the company temporarily halted production on a sixth studio album. By mid-2009 however, she resumed work on brand new songs in the studio with producers such as Sean & Kadis.

In fall 2009, Norwood introduced her rap alter ego Bran’Nu on Timbaland’s album Shock Value II (2009), the result of artistic experimentation with the musician, who had tapped her for her rhyming ability after seeing a video on YouTube that Norwood had uploaded and showed her rapping freestyle. Norwood, who had initially thought of rapping as a hobby and fun for friends, felt encouraged by Timbaland to write and perform her own verses on at least three tracks for his album, two of which eventually made it to the track listing. In December 2009, the producer revealed his intentions to reteam with her on her next project, producing the bulk of an album that he envisioned to be “half singing, half rapping”. Norwood confirmed his idea in an interview she held at the release party of Shock Value II: “What I’m doing on the [next] album is a little bit different than what everybody knows me for. Timbaland endorsed that… He really gave me a shot to be different and be versatile. I can’t thank him enough for that. This is a wonderful opportunity.” Though Norwood hoped their collaboration would lead to a signing with Timbaland’s Mosley Music Group and she would went on to records several other rap songs the following months, plans for hip hop-oriented album under his imprint were eventually abandoned as the singer felt the sound would not aim at her core audience. Approached on the subject, she later dismissed the idea of recording a rap album, stating that “it was a hobby. I was convinced to do it professionally, which I never should have listened to that advice.”

Throughout 2010, Norwood continued recording independently with a variety of musicians, including producers Danja, Clinton Sparks, The Jam, Corey Gibson and songwriter Stacy Barthe. Some of this was chronicled on her VH1 reality series Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business, which originally aired from April 2010 to February 2011 and spawned a soundtrack of the same name (2011), on which some of the tracks were included. In September 2010, producer Bangladesh confirmed that had been commissioned by Norwood to helm the production of the entire project, though Norwood later expressed her intent to further connect with several producers, including producers Hit-Boy, Tha Bizness, Jim Beanz,[15] WyldCard, newcomers Kevin McCall, Rich Harrison, Rico Love, production collectives The Woodworks and The Runners, singers Sean Garrett, Chris Brown, Drake, Frank Ocean, and Lonny Bereal, and songwriter Ester Dean.

In August 2011, it was confirmed that Norwood signed a joint record deal with RCA Records and producer Breyon Prescott’s Chameleon Records and will release her sixth studio album in May 2012. In November 2011, Sean Garrett announced through Rap-Up that he wrote and co-produced the album’s first single, which he expected to be released before December 25, 2011 and was to be feature a rapper. Plans fell through and the song was eventually pushed back so it wont clash with the release of the Rico Love produced mid-tempo song “It All Belongs to Me”, a duet with singer Monica.”

The video treatment for the second single from Madonna’s new album MDNA is out and we have to say that we haven’t liked a Madonna video so much for a while. This is fun, fresh and eye-grabbing. We are lovely the fashions, the dancing’s on point for a change and the lovely scene at the end with the black tears. Also, the eye candy is not so bad. This is was we imagine Madonna doing at this point. Great songs, amazing sexy videos. Good job.

Alexandra Winston is an American indie pop rock singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Classically trained in opera, Winston was encouraged by her parents to pursue music. Winston was born and raised in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She moved to New York City in 2010 to work with production duo The Knocks.

She has covered artists like Chuck Berry (for whom she was a former opening act), Jack Peñate, The Rolling Stones, Mumford & Sons and others in some of her online releases.[2] Alex’s 2010 single, “Choice Notes”, is the background music to the European and UK advertisement for the Hyundai ix20 and TK Maxx. Winston played a set at Bestival 2011 on the Sailor Jerry’s stage. She has also been filmed by the YouTube channel, watchlistentell and she performed ‘Choice Notes’ with the ‘Sister Wives’.

Alyson Greenfield premieres the official video for “Mama Said Knock You Out” over on AOL today.  The video can also be seen on YouTube.  The visual was filmed and edited by Adam Holz.  The song is off of Alyson’s 2011 release Rock Out With Your Glockenspiel Out, which is a collection of hip hop covers including Coolio’s “Gangster’s Paradise” on a glockenspiel, Kelis’ “Milkshake,”as well as LL Cool J’s “Mama Said Knock You Out” on a baby grand piano.

In celebration of SXSW kicking off next week, Alyson has also released a video entitled “Michael Cera C*ckblocked Me at SXSW.”  The song was written based on a true story about her friend Zack who had a run-in with Michael Cera last year during SXSW in Austin, TX.  The video was shot and edited by Adam Holz and features artwork by Andrea Sparacio.  The track was recorded at Converse Rubber Tracks in Brooklyn, which have been early supporters of Alyson.  She was one of the first 5 artists to record at their studio and they have featured “Uncharted Places” as track of the week.

Alyson Greenfield experiments with synthesizers, glockenspiels, chord organs, drums, autoharps, and beatboxers to create her “eclectic sound” (AM New York), chock-full of “satiating and seductive songs” (LA Examiner). As well as having shared the stage with indie-folk favorites Jenny Owen Youngs and Holly Miranda, Greenfield is no stranger to the electro and hip-hop scenes. Future Rock’s remix of her song “Understand the Sky” was released on the Chicago-based electronica trio’s most recent album, and the original version of the song currently appears in Josh Stolberg’s (Good Luck Chuck, Pirhana 3D) newest feature film Conception. In addition to being a songwriter and performer, Greenfield is also the Founder/Director of the Tinderbox Music Festival, an annual Brooklyn-based event showcasing emerging female musicians, and giving back to NYC non-profits empowering young women through the arts.

The uploader has made this video not available in my country because apparently they are so eager to break the Kuwaiti market when they get to it, or they just lump up everyone not from where they are or not a huge market for western music like the US and the UK. Posthumously, Amy Winehouse is still rocking! This is a new song from the quickly put-together album of unreleased material called Lioness: Hidden Treasures. The song sounds like a cut from the Back To Black era. It’s all taken from snippets of her previous videos and then some still to zoom into. It looks like a VH-1 Behind The Music documentary. Let’s hope the unleash some unseen footage next time around.

Danish artists Electric Lady Lab are paying homage to their neighbors. The band’s newest video for their single “Touch Me” is an ode to Norwegian rockers A-ha, with all the pencil-sketching inspired by synth-pop relic, “Take On Me.” The song, however, is not as great as their previous offerings, but we will give them the benefit of the doubt.

Fatima Al Qadiri is doing more music and this is her latest video. The YouTube description explains: “Hip Hop Spa posits an uncanny parallel between the luxurious solitary confinement of a spa experience and the introspective image of prison solitary confinement often presented in contemporary, genre specific, Hip Hop cultural product. Solitary subconscious is the experience of virtual age Hip Hop culture. The track expands the lexicon of the genre, while questioning the general public’s consumption of rap and hip hop aesthetics.”

Soko tweeted her disapproval of a singer named Lana Del Rey on twitter and we couldn’t help but YouTube her. What we found is an unsurpassed beauty with great pipes and haunting lyrics administrated with lazy vocals. A potent and somewhat new formula for her kind a music – a fusion between old-hollywood glamor with a strong jazz sensibility. After listening to “Yayo” and “Video Games” we have fallen in love with this lovely singer. She carries herself with poise and is not afraid to challenge the ideals of vocal rules with her sound. Genre cross-breads rarely sound so scrumptious and when they do they break new ground in the pop world, like what Amy Winehouse did. We look forward to hearing from Lizzy Grant, her real name.

Is it just us or is this purely horrid. This is a hot mess. We expected more from The Ting Tings who delivered a great debut album. But, the two tracks that we got from them (“Hands” and “Hang It Up”) are just not up to par. So sad to see We Started Nothing followed by this balderdash.

We are not the biggest fans of Kelly Clarkson, but we think she has some strong numbers. Upon recommendation from our fellow bloggers we gave her new leaked album a stream or two and we have to say it isn’t so bad after all. We like “Stronger,” it’ll probably be the next single.

1. Greetings from Kuwait! Loft965.com picked “Pop Song” as a “Sexy Track” of 2011! How do you feel about that and what do you think the rest of the year holds for you?

 I am happy to hear that, thank you. I have to say I didn’t realize it was such a sexy song,  I thought it was just honest.  I think I  will be busy writing and recording my third album for the rest of the year. I will be releasing it in 2012. 

2. We are excited about the new album. What will it be called?

 I am still writing songs for the album so I haven’t decided on a name for it yet. I usually don’t name my albums until all the songs are ready.

3. What musical direction are you taking for your new album?

 At the moment it sounds like it’s going to be a pop album with a country and folky twist.  But that could change before the album is finished.

4. Are you going on tour? What will be your next single?

I won’t be going on tour until after christmas, but I hope to travel to lots of different places to play my new songs next year.  I don’t know what song will be my next single but I have two songs that are strong candidates. One about a scary house close to where I live and another about a very lucky boy.

5. We love quotes, what is your favorite quote or motto?

We have a lot of old sayings here in Iceland and some of them seem very strange, especially when they have been translated. One of my favorites is “Ég kalla nú ekki allt ömmu mína”  it translates as  “I don’t call just anything my grandmother .”  It means I don’t get scared easily.
